Once the answer left my mouth everything else happened in slow motion. One of the guys eyes lost hope, while the other one gained hope.My mom moved the gun away from my precious baby and moved it towards me.
"Now it's time for you to know what you took away from me" she pointed the gun and fired behind me.
A body hit the ground and I stood frozen. I didn't want to see who she shot and I didn't want to cry. Instead I stepped forward and wrestled her for the gun.
Lance took a step forward just as I got full control of the gun. I pointed it at my mom.
"Mommy!" My little sweet girl said as she reached out to me.
"Don't worry mommy haves you, and I'll take great care of you, unlike this evil witch" I poked my daughters nose. For once I felt a belonging and love towards someone else. My little girl is all I need but I'm blessed to have a guy with me.
I turned my kid to face the trees behind me and covered her ears.
Bang! Bang!
A shot fired from my gun and got contact with my mom. I swung my baby in enough time for the bullet to find me instead of her.
I turned towards Lance and fired my gun before he could shoot another bullet.
Some strong arms carried me out of the woods. I glanced at his face.
"This is your daughter" I said as the sunlight came into my eyes, and the trees thinned.
"And this is our family" Mason said as I buried my head into his chest, it left a big enough hole to see our daughter.
"I love you Emma, and you don't have to say it back to me if you aren't ready for it yet"
"Yes Mason, I would love to marry you because I love you and our daughter."
