As the night fell my idea of going alone grew into a great plan. I don't need the guys to protect Lilly and I definitely don't need their protection.

On the other hand I wanted Mason to meet his daughter. His sweet and perfect daughter. I want him to see how their hair looks alike and I want him to see that their smile is the same. I want him to be in her life, but do I want him to be in my life? Could I handle being around him for that long without my feelings for him growing?

Alone

Together

Alone it is.

"Hey I think we should stop for the night" I said ready for my plan to take action.

"Ok I'll have the first watch" Mason says.

"I can take it" I argued.

"No you need your sleep"

"In that case I call second watch" Tyler announced.

Ugh!

Sneaking out seems to be getting further from my reach.

Masons POV
I knew from the moment she said we should have stayed home, that she would try to sneak off.

When she commits to a decision she try's not to be talked out. When her plan doesn't work you can see how her eyes scrunch up. You can see her fake smile that never meets her eyes. You can see the frustration building up inside her every second that her plan doesn't work.

I know this beautiful girl standing in front of me, but does she know me? Does she know how much I love her and want to be with her. Does she know the only nightmare I have is not being with her. Does she know that I would do anything for her? She probably doesn't. She probably never loved me. I hold on to the small hope that she does and that she is too scared to let me love her.

I know her secrets she try's so hard to keep in. I know why she guards herself and why she would rather go out in the dark.

I watch as Emma settles in and I notice that her stuff is packed in a way where she can grab it and run. I wait until Tyler is asleep until I approach Emma who is pretending to sleep.

"Hey Emma"

"Hey" she says trying to sound sleepy

"How's your dad doing?"
