LXIII. Adopted

The Same Day (October 17, 2014) ...

Third Person's POV :

Just after the whole scene happened, Chris and Karlos decided to go home since Rodrick has thinking to do.

It's 8:32 in the evening and Rodrick was still contemplating. While Rodrick was in the middle of his thoughts, someone knocked on his door.

Rodrick : Pasok.

It was Atty. Gonzales.

Rodrick knew exactly what will happen next.

*BLAG*

Yes, Atty. Gonzales slapped his son.

Atty. Gonzales : I just want you to know the consequences of the scandal you've made years ago.

And he walked out of the room and left his son crying.

11: 59 PM ...

"Nakatulog na ba si Rodrick?"

He asked one of their maids.

Maid : Sa tingin ko po, Sir ... wala pa.

"Okay."

And he went up to Rodrick's room.

"Pwedeng pumasok?"

Rodrick opened the door and his older brother, Derrick, appeared before his very eyes.

Rodrick : Aww.

He went back to his bed and covered himself with a blanket.

Derrick walked to his brother's bed and sat beside him.

Derrick : Can we talk?

Rodrick turned to the other side.

Derrick : I'll be the one talking na lang.

Rodrick : Hmph.

Derrick : Looks like you're the only one who doesn't know the truth.

Rodrick : Na adopted ako? Alam ko na yan.

He replied lazily.

Derrick : Hinde. Hinde. Hindi ikaw ang adopted.

Rodrick : Eh sino? Ikaw?

Rodrick laughed sarcastically.

Rodrick : Bakit ikaw? Ikaw nga ang matalino, ikaw ang good boy, ikaw ang binibigayan ng attention ni Dad.

He still didn't face his brother.

Rodrick : At ako naman ... binibigayan lang niya ako ng atensyon kung ipinatawag ulit siya ng Guidance Counselor.

Derrick : Rodrick, I'm the one who's adopted.

Rodrick : Sinungaling.

Derrick : Rodrick, I'm serious. I'm telling the truth.

Rodrick turned to face his brother.

Rodrick : Ikaw? Ikaw?

He laughed.

Rodrick : Ikaw ang adopted pero ikaw ang ginawa niyang Rodericco Gonzales Jr?

Derrick sighed.

Rodrick : Nagbibiro ka ba? Kasi nakatawa talaga.

Derrick : I'm serious. Nung bata pa ako, someone told me that I was adopted. I asked Mama and Dad for confirmation. Well of course, they didn't respond immediately but they confirmed it. Ever since then Mama and Dad me more attention, so I won't feel like an outsider. But now ...

He sighed.

Derrick : I didn't expect that you'll be the one who feels like you're adopted. And you try to get his attention but in the end, you think that he hates you even more and more, which causes you to turn rebellious.

He placed his hands on Rodrick's shoulders.

Derrick : Believe me, Dad loves you. He loves you every much. He just hates seeing you make an a** of yourself.

He hugged his younger brother.

Derrick : I'm sorry, Rick. This is all my fault.

Rodrick hugged his brother back.

Rodrick : Pasensya rin. Hindi ko alam eh.

Derrick released his brother.

Derrick : Matulog ka na. Papangit ka.

Rodrick : Inggit ka lang.

And they both laugh.
