I was sitting at the lunch table where me, Imani, Amber, Emmy and Mak were sitting together. Emilio was at the football table with the guys. I didn't mind cause I needed to talk with the girls anyway.

My weekend was filled with nothing but my parents arguing and even some this morning which resulted in me taking Alexis to school early, early enough for us to eat breakfast.

I didn't want to leave my sister with their mess, she was to young to have to deal with their problems. I've been miserable all day just thinking about it.

"Theirs so much that's coming up that it's so overwhelming." Imani says as she picks at her fruit tray.

"Like what?" I ask as I steal one of her grapes and pop it into my mouth.

"First of all dance tryouts are in two weeks, and I'm super excited but really nervous, and also homecoming is that same Friday." She says rubbing her temples.

"Oh yea I forgot about homecoming." Mak says as she finishes off her bag of chips.

"Same here." Amber says.

"Also Teddys been a real jerk ever since he's found out that the college coaches would be scouting at the homecoming week game and their last game or the state game. I don't know it's like he's a totally different person." She says as she gives a sad look over to the football table where all the guys were at.

I look over as well and notice a glimpse of ginger hair over at the table, which only make my fist ball at my sides. It was Hailey. She was the only girl with ginger hair that would strive for attention from all the guys here.

She was talking to Luke but I could see her side glimpses to my man that was not to far away from her.

I almost had the etched feeling to get up and make an appearance but I stayed put so I didn't make an image of myself.

"Do you know who was nominated for homecoming queen?" Emmy says making me divert my eyes back to my friends.

"Jayda, Natalie, Julie, Cassie, and Hailey." Amber says, saying Haileys name with more venom than the other girls.

"What about king?" Imani says.

"I believe, Nate, Jovian, Adam, Riley, and Emilio." Mak says nodding at me.

I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion at the last part, "Emilio? He never said anything about being nominated. Are you sure?" I ask again.

"Yea hold on, I'll show you." She says digging out her phone out the pockets of her hoodie and starts scrolling through it. She hands me her phone and I look at what seems to be, "Bently River Highs Homecoming Queen and King nominees" and just as said Emilio's name was there for homecoming king.

I find myself annoyed at the situation and hand her, her phone. I couldn't understand why he didn't tell me. Even though it's not a really big deal it just confuses me. Would I have ever known if Mak didn't tell us?

"He never told me anything. But I hope he wins." I say dryly not really meaning to but I couldn't help it as it slipped out.

I didn't want to be a bitch or anything but I couldn't understand why he wouldn't tell me. I just had an overall bad feeling and it was driving me insane the more they talked about it I thought.
