Chapter 4: Fun Times in the Vents

"Oh. It looks like the walls close in when it's deactivated." I should have guessed that a prison as prestigious as Nanba would have back-up traps.

As the walls close in, Uno perks up and says, "Why'd you have to go and trigger that?" Well, Uno, I have always had becoming a human pancake on my bucket list, so I just decided to go for it. Aye, I didn't mean to activate it. That much should be obvious. Plus, I saved their lives by deactivating the lasers, so he should at least be grateful.

"How fun!" Nico chimes in enthusiastically. Even in the face of danger, Nico is still cheerful as ever.

"Hey! I don't wanna get sandwiched flat in a place like this!" Uno shouts out, seeming to be the only one taking our situation seriously.

"Speaking of sandwiches-"

"Not the time, Rock!" Uno cuts Rock off midsentence. Nico giggles at the little scene. Rather than arguing, Uno and Rock should be finding a way out of here. At this rate, we're all gonna be flattened. I immediately look around for a way out.

My eyes scan up the walls and make their way into the roof. The convienently placed vent! "Up there, guys! Hurry!"

We make our way upwards, using the walls that are now only a meter or so apart to help us. I hear Nico's voice, but I can't understand what he says. With adrenaline pumping through my veins, I push the vent in with all my strength(which isn't much), and say a silent prayer as the vent instantly gives in. I jump into the space behind the vent, Uno right on my tail, as the other two then follow right after him. I look down through the hole to see the walls close not even a second after Rock makes it. We all simultaneously let out a sigh. That was too close for comfort.

That almost killed us....would Hajime really be willing to kill us just for having a little fun? I shake my head as I begin to crawl through the vents with the others.
