Chapter 7 - Downfall

"You..what do you mean replacement?!" Macao was very confused, they were able to keep up with their payments. And the next months rent wasn't due for another couple of weeks. So why was he replacing them now?

"I'm sorry Macao, but this guild isn't the same as before. It doesn't bring in the same amount of people or money. Despite it's great past. It's the present and it's not the same" The mayor shook his head

"Please reconsider Mayor, we pay the rent on time!" Macao began to argue but was met with a disapproving head shake

"I'm sorry but this is my final decision. Fairy Tail will shut down." The mayor spoke firmly as everyone inside the guild gave a very sad look. They feared what might happen soon after. They look towards the mayor in complete shock of his choice.

"Twilight Ogre will take your place, They will be arriving at the beginning of the next month. Pack up your things, at the end of this month you won't be allowed here anymore" He turned around and quickly left. Leaving only the shocked guild members behind, unable to take in what was happening to them.

Some of the members began to cry. Their home, was being taken away from them. The family they had was slowly being torn apart

"T-This can't be for real!" Jet couldn't believe that was going on, "I cannot believe this!!"

"What about Y/n and Wendy...they're on a job right now...what...what will happen when they get back...how can we tell them"

They all thought about the two girls, worrying about what they would say, and how would say it. Sooner or later they would come back, they wondered how they would explain it to them.

Wendy yawned and rubbed her eyes, she quickly realized where she was and quickly flung up.

Y/n giggled, "Morning sleepyhead"

"D-did I fall asleep? I'm sorry Y/n-chan" Wendy quickly apologized

"It's okay, don't worry about it too much we don't have to be at our job for another 30 minutes so you woke up at the right time" Y/n explained

"Oh umm okay, we should probably go then!" Wendy got out of bed and put on her shoes

They walked through the town, now being the afternoon and the sun was at the brightest. They soon arrived at an older building in the corner of town.

They knocked on the door and they heard an older voice come say something behind the door and opened it.

"Hello. I assume you are here for this job. Have a seat kiddos." He was an older man, about 60 or 70 in the least. His white hairs were almost all grey and he had a hunched back.

He slowly walked over to another chair facing the two

"I assume you two are Fairy Tail mages?" The two nodded and he put out his hand to shake to which the two awkwardly shook his hand

He continued to speak after that, "Now for that job...there have been some dark mages which have been attacking this town for months now. We don't know why they started doing it, but they have. That's why I need help from you guys, but...I had heard of Fairy Tail's loss...I just wanna ask, do you two think you're strong enough to take care of these mages, I'm sure they're pretty strong and you two are just kids and..." He was cut off by Wendy

"I'm sure we can do it Sir! You can count on us, we may not look it, but Y/n and I are a great team and together we can defeat anyone, right Y/n-chan?" Y/n nodded slightly and began to get up

"We'll beat those bandits for you." Y/n quickly said and walked out of the room

"Did I say something wrong?" The older man asked
