Chapter 10 - Starting Over

Y/n sat quietly on the bed of the infirmary. She felt like she had been here too often. She felt like her and Wendy were the only ones who even used the place anymore

Y/n looked over to see Wendy, with a large bandage on her head and sleeping peacefully. She felt bad about what she had done, those scars on Wendy were her fault, but she tried not to think about it too much.

Wendy had passed out in her arms back on the island, and used Y/n all of the power she could muster into returning back to the guild as soon as possible.

Wendy had been out for three days and Y/n sat there, waiting for her return

Y/n looked back at herself, with a couple scrapes and bruises. But that's not what was on her mind. She was thinking about what happened on the island. She was thinking about the girl she saw.

She was short and blond and had wings like adornments around her ears. She felt like she had seen her before

"Mavis" she whispered to herself, "Why does that name seem kinda familiar?"

Y/n sighed and thought about what she said, 'you're much stronger. Speed is just the distance covered over time, but you can control that time.'

"What does that mean...? I can control time? But that's...impossible right? So...my power isn't speed or...is it? I really wish she had said more..."

Y/n put out her hand, 'Y/n, reach out your hand, you're stronger than you believe'

"All I have to do is...put my hand out?" She reached out, as if trying to grab something and felt a surge run through her body for a second

Looking out the window she saw a drop of rain slow down for a second to where she could see its shape, then as she slowly put her hand down, the rain fell again.

'What the heck was that...did I...did I really do that?' Y/n thoughts were then interrupted by a knock at the door as Kinana walked in slowly walking towards

"Mind if I come in Y/n?" she asked, to which Y/n shook her head.

"How's Wendy doing?" Y/n asked

"She's good, her magic is helping her heal faster than any normal person could"

"Mhn...That's good" Y/n nodded slowly while looking down

"Master wanted to speak to you about something. When you are ready. Something about the situation now that we were moving"

"Can it wait till tomorrow?" Kiana smiled a bit and slowly began walking out of the room

"Let's wait for Wendy to wake up then. Take care of yourself okay? I know all of this is a lot to go through, but you're both still kids remember that"

"Mhm..thanks a lot and... I will don't worry...and we're not kids! Wendy and I are both 13 now!" She laughed and left the room and Y/n was left with her own thoughts and eventually fell asleep

Nighttime

Wendy stirred in her sleep and slowly opened her eyes. She saw the dark ceiling of the medical room and instantly knew where it was.

It felt like she was here every day now.

She looked out the window and saw the town, with only street lamps lighting the way and nobody outside. She then looked to the other side and saw Y/n sleeping peacefully on the bed

Her eyes softened 'How cute' she thought to herself and blushed, looking away from her best friend.

She was glad they had made it back safe and sound...She was glad to see Y/n again, alive and well.
