Who's ready for a part two to this emotional roller coaster???
You're welcome for the double update !
The scream that escaped Richie's mouth was unlike any that the others had ever heard. It was pure pain and shock. According to anyone who had bonded to a dragon or animal, losing the animal was the worst pain in the world; it felt like losing a part of their soul and physically hurt.
Eddie knew this, and as soon as he saw Richie's reaction, he knew it was true. He rushed to Richie's side, who had fallen to his knees, crying. He pulled Richie into a tight hug and let him cry into his chest, knowing how broken he must feel.
"Richie?" Eddie asked, running his fingers through his hair. "It's okay, Richie. I promise it's all going to be okay."
Richie shook his head, heaving another sob. He held on tightly to Eddie, his cries loud and broken. His stomach physically hurt, as if someone had stabbed a blade through it.
"Bring them to the cells," Klais said, looking around at the four broken teenagers. He looked at Richie and Eddie, glaring. "Make sure they're separated."
The guards obeyed, ripping Eddie and Richie apart. They ignored the pair's protests, tearing them away from each other.
Richie cried out and tried to hold onto Eddie, but he was met with a punch to the stomach. He wheezed and let go, noticing Eddie got the same treatment. They were thrown into separate cells beside each other, so they could reach through the bars but couldn't have full contact.
Richie instantly reached through and grabbed onto Eddie's arm, pulling him as close as he could. It was hard to hold each other with the barrier in the way, but they tried.
"It hurts, Eddie," Richie whined, grabbing onto his stomach.
There were tear stains on his face and he looked so defeated that it broke Eddie's heart.
"I know, baby," Eddie whispered, reaching through and gently laying his hand on Richie's stomach. "I'm so sorry, Rich."
Richie shook his head. "It was my fault. I should've just fucking protected you in the first place and none of this would've happened. If I'd kept you safe-"
Eddie covered Richie's mouth to stop him from talking. "Don't you dare start blaming yourself," he said in such a firm voice that all Richie could do was nod in agreement. "You saved me from dying. You have done for me what no one else was willing to do. We are going to get through this."
Footsteps interrupted their moment and they saw Klais walk in. He had a nasty burn on his arm and a cut on his cheek, just under his eye. He clutched a spear that was covered in blood, from the arrow point to the end of the staff.
"Get them," he said, nodding toward Richie and Eddie.
"Don't touch him!" Richie yelled as the guards grabbed Eddie and dragged him away, before he was taken as well.
They were brought to the same room that Richie had eavesdropped in on the night before. They were forced across the room from each other and held pushed to the ground, neither speaking out of fear.
Klais walked to the front of the room, cleaning off his spear. Soon the metal shone through the blood, the sight making Richie want to vomit. He walked over to Eddie, surveying him before lifting the spear and drawing a long line down his leg, blood slowly seeping out.
Eddie hissed in pain, closing his eyes and trying to keep from crying.
"Fucking stop!" Richie yelled, trying to get out of the guard's grasp. "Don't hurt him!"
