"There it is!" Richie yelled from where he was standing on the flag mast.
Iris had returned a week before, and since Richie had a newfound joy for heights, he had her take him to the top of the mast every day to keep watch. It seemed the day had come for the group to arrive in Konilla.
"Go look for a port," Richie told Iris, and she quickly took flight, circling the island. He then climbed down the mast, landing next to Eddie who rolled his eyes.
"Show off."
"You love me for it," Richie said with a wink, ruffling Eddie's hair.
Eddie smirked. "I think Iris is two seconds from killing my dragon," he said, looking up at the sky.
The dragon that brought them the note had decided that it bonded to Eddie, and never left. It followed him everywhere, hissing at everyone who got near him besides Richie, since Eddie scolded the dragon every time he snarled.
"You should give him a name," Richie said, watching the green speck following Iris through the sky.
"I don't have any ideas and he's a little shit. I don't want to name him."
"He needs a name. You said dragons can't break a bond," Richie pointed out, seeing Iris and the green dragon get closer.
They landed on the ship and Iris pointed her nose in the direction of the ports. She was clearly irritated by the little green dragon that kept following her everywhere when it wasn't attached to Eddie.
"Leave her alone," Eddie snapped at the dragon.
It whispered and flew over to him, landing on his shoulders.
"Name him, Eds."
"Nope."
"He needs a name!"
"No he doesn't!"
Richie rolled his eyes, sharing an annoyed look with Mike, who was steering the ship. Mike shrugged in response.
"You should name him, Eddie. Dragons can be sensitive," Mike said, looking pitifully at the green dragon who appeared rejected.
Eddie groaned in annoyance. "Fine, his name is Little Bitch."
The dragon growled and bared its teeth to Eddie, ignoring Iris's snarl.
"You could name him after the Tenebrian sign," Richie said, knowing Eddie wanted nothing to do with Luceat.
"I can't name him Iris! That's your dragon's name!" Eddie said in an irritated voice, rolling his eyes.
"Not Iris! The symbol, idiot. You guys have the sun, we have the eclipse."
Eddie glanced over at the dragon. He seemed pleased with the suggested name.
"Eclipse?" Eddie asked, receiving a pleased chirping from the dragon as it nuzzled against his cheek. "Fine, but I'm still going to call you a bitch."
Eclipse nipped his ear playfully and took flight, landing on the mast of the ship.
Eddie sat down on the deck, Richie taking a seat right next to him. They leaned on each other as Mike steered the ship in the direction Richie told him to.
The others walked out of their rooms, each with a small bag over their shoulders. Mike had said they should pack any necessities should they need them as offerings. Since the Konillians were so dangerous, they didn't get visitors often and were extremely threatening when people showed up on their island.
They all stood at the edge except for Mike, who was steering. They'd all completed their tasks and just had to dock.
Richie and Eddie both climbed onto Iris and landed on the dock so they could keep their small vessel from floating away. Eclipse clung tightly to Eddie's back, growling at the forested area that was just up the shore.
"Here!" Stan yelled, he, Ben, and Bev throwing the rope toward the two while Bill made sure their bags were fully stocked with the remainder of their medicines.
Richie and Eddie tied the ship and the others dropped the ramp, climbing onto the dock. It was clearly old and unused, as there were no ships besides their vessels and no signs of human life.
"Why are there no ships?" Bev asked, sliding her knife into her belt. "I thought you said you traded with them."
"We do," Mike said, walking off the dock and onto the sandy shore. "All of our trades are small though. We are allies yes, but only the king ever came here with one of his dragons. It's always pre-planned as well, since we send letters using dragons like Eclipse."
Bill and Ben shared a nervous look, pulling down their sleeves to cover their arrow tattoos. Eddie and Mike noticed and did the same, knowing how much Konillians hated Lucantians.
"That means we don't know where their village is, huh?" Richie asked, realizing none of the people in their group had ever been there.
Mike nodded and took his bag from Bill. "Unless any of the Lucantians know?"
Bill shook his head. "N-nothing. We just know b-basic information, but nothing about wh-where their kingdom or village is."
Richie groaned in annoyance, pulling a huff from Iris as well. He grabbed Eddie's hand and tugged him closer. "So we just have to wait for them to come threaten us and hope it leads to allies? We traveled for four weeks and didn't have this figured out?" he asked, trying hard not to smile when Eddie snickered at his sarcastic questions.
"We have a plan, just not all the pieces," Stan commented, though he looked as annoyed as Richie did.
Eddie pulled Richie's arm and began walking to the jungle area. "I left Luceat for a fucking adventure, so let's have one. I'm sure they'll find us eventually, or we'll find them. We need to move quicker, though. Luceat won't be far behind."
Richie gave in, following Eddie into the jungle. It was humid on the island, making it harder to stay hydrated and keep from sweating. They had a small store of water to share, but within the first hour of forcing their way through the jungle it was gone.
Iris had taken to flying above them, since Richie could call her back if they were in danger. Eclipse remained with the group, forcing each to take a turn carrying him.
"We're n-never going to f-find anyone, are we?" Bill asked, breathing heavily and leaning against a tree.
That's when they heard an earsplitting howl. A black wolf emerged from behind a bush, following by a fierce warrior, clutching a spear. He had dark green strands in his hair and unsettling emerald eyes.
Other snarls echoed around them, and they soon realized they'd been surrounded.
"The chief will want to see them," the man with the wolf said, walking closer to the group.
"We mean no harm. Take us to your chief," Mike said, holding his hands up in surrender.
