Healing

I screamed in agony as Nat pulled both arms above my head and dragged me towards the entrance of the vent. The paralyzing pain overcame any rational thoughts I had and turned them to screams.

I jumped awake, Nat was by my bed as usual. It had been two weeks since the incident and the only time I had slept peacefully was during the surgeries. Doctors were constantly in and out, checking my vitals and having me try to wiggle my toes. They all looked hopeful until they saw my feet lay still at the end of the bed.

Tony never visited, I assumed he blamed himself for letting me go on that mission. Sometimes I'd overhear the team arguing outside my room, trying to put the blame on anyone they could. I knew what I was risking when I went with them, I'm annoyed I couldn't predict I would get shot though, that would have been helpful. Everything's been too hectic to meditate and focus on my powers.

After a week of testing and waiting, the doctors decided to operate.

When I cracked my eyelids hours later, everyone was there, watching me intensely. I groaned as I fought grogginess and stretched my arms. Clint went to get the doctor.

Helen did her routine checks and finally got to my legs. The avengers held their breath. I used all of my energy and my right foot slightly twitched. Everyone cheered at the movement.

Months went by where I spent all of my energy in physical therapy. Now I can stiffly drag myself across a room with braces on.

Wanda Maximoff joined us in stark tower a bit ago. I like hanging out with her, she's closer to my age than anyone and it's nice for a change. We accidentally discovered Wanda could trigger visions for me with her powers. We spent an entire afternoon studying the future. Most of the team treated me like their daughter, but it felt like I had an older sister for once with Wanda.

One thing about living in a tower that is heavily guarded by spies is you're not supposed to leave without one of said spies with you, or permission from Stark. We had neither.

Wanda and I carefully snuck out the balcony of Tony's office, more like Wanda was "taking me to get fresh air" while a fake security breach happened on the other side of the compound. We had to be careful to have Wanda levitate my wheelchair and not me, as any ounce of her power interacting with my body sent me into a vision, you can imagine how we figured that out. So I sat back in my chair and held on as we glided above the compound and onto the other side of the fence.

We didn't want to risk wearing Wanda out so she pushed my wheelchair from on the ground. We didn't have much of a plan besides having fun, so naturally two avengers ventured into the nearby city.
