I shut my locker, carrying the books I needed for my last class. I wasn't excited for history today but then again, when am I ever?

"Leah!" Caroline called from behind me, slightly jogging to catch up. "Hey," she spoke, catching her breath. I glanced at her sideways, amused that she was tired from a small jog. "I've been waiting all day to know and I'm a bit offended that as your best friend, you didn't tell me."

"Tell you what?" I said, confused about what she meant.

"How did Michael ask?" she grinned at me and my pulse sped up. I stopped in my tracks, holding onto her arm to keep from melting into a puddle.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, my eyes wide and my voice laced with excitement.

"Oh shit," Caroline giggled but kept walking. "Never mind,"

"Hold on!" I grabbed her arm again but this time to stop her from walking into her classroom. "What the hell are you talking about? Ask me what?"

A smile danced on her pale pink lips.

"I can't tell you," she said as if it were obvious. My face was probably pale and my heart was ready to beat out of my chest. Michael and I didn't talk about the kiss after we left the library so he wouldn't possibly ask me out, would he?

"You have to tell me!" I cried, more frustrated than ever. My stomach was churning with nervousness. What does he want? How would I respond? Was it a good question? I had no idea and it was driving me insane.

"Let's just say you'll have fun tonight," Caroline winked and slipped into her classroom just in time. I knew I was late for mine so as I walked slowly (seeing as I'm already late) I wondered what he would ask me.

After examining the situation carefully I realized it was foolish to think he'd ask me out. I could cross that off the list. But what else was there? And what was happening tonight?

I rounded the corner towards my history class when I collided into someone's chest, bouncing back slightly. My cheeks went pink immediately but when I noticed his height, I was no longer embarrassed.

"Better watch where you're going," Luke teased. I rolled my eyes at him, picking up a book that fell from my arms.

"I'd say it wasn't my fault," I laughed, playfully shoving him as I moved past him.

"I know, I'm too tall for this school. I just trip over everything and take people out," he chuckled, his blue eyes flashing as he did. He was really quite attractive and I didn't get why he didn't have a girlfriend.

"They should have a school for the tall. Helping kids of extreme heights live a normal life," I put up my hands like it was a movie title as I explained the school's slogan.

"That's just rude," Luke held his hand to his chest. "We may have our disadvantages but the moment we're gone, who's there to reach something off the top shelf?"

"You're right," I sighed playfully. "Next time I can't reach the box of cereal in my kitchen, I'll know who to call." I giggled, shaking my head at our fun relationship. I began to walk past him, spinning so that my back was to the rest of the hallway. "Love to stay and chat but I'm late for class." I told him, bravely walking backwards.

"Me too," he grinned, giving me a slight wave before disappearing around the corner. I began to turn back around when someone caught my shoulders.

"Wandering the hallways, are we?" A deep voice said and my heart dropped. His hands released my shoulders, allowing me to turn and face him. The principal. Just my luck.
