James sat down and scarfed his breakfast down like a starving pig. He dropped a bit of soup on his shirt as he gulped it down. He felt the hot drip of the brown liquor hit his chest and knew he had to wash it out before his dad saw. "Shit." He let out a sigh.
Erwin raised his eyebrows at him. "Somebody is in a rush." The large man plopped a stack of papers down onto the old wooden table.
"Yeah, my dad woke me up and I'm late for my duties." He set his bowl down and whipped his shirt with a napkin. "Now I have to go clean my shirt before he sees I got food on it."
There was a firm twist of the handle on the door as his father opened it. "I'm back- James what the hell is on your shirt?"
"Nothing. I'll clean it dad." James rolled his eyes and headed out.
Once James was out of the room, Erwin let out a sigh, "You have Kenny after you Levi." He handed a letter to Levi.
Levi's eyes scanned the paper in his hands with wide eyes. "I have to get James out of here. I'm not loosing him too."
"Levi, were all going to fight him. We know that you're a target, but we don't know if he even knows James exists."
"And I'm not going to let him know either. I'm getting James out of here."
"Wouldn't it me better for James to be with us than to be alone? We can ensure that he is protected when he's with us- with you." Erwin looked deep into Levi's eyes.
Levi went silent, thinking about what would be best for his only child.
"He needs to stay with us. We are the only people we can trust to keep him alive." Erwin stood up and looked down at Levi. "It's out best option."
Levi let out a sigh "fine, but if he dies I'll kill you." He folded the letter back up and slid it into his back pocket. Worry ran through his head like pack of zebras on the African belt. All he could think about was protecting his son. He couldn't risk loosing him too.
