Prologue

            I watched as Cass, Randy and Lynx stood talking in the yard. Four years ago, the three of them combined their packs to keep the others from dying out or turning Mutt. Since the pack was too large for just one alpha to run, all three had an equal say in everything pack related. In the four years, our pack increased by four hundred wolves, which made us the largest pack in history.

            Most where smaller packs that were seeking the protection we could over them. It took the four of us weeks to come up with a name. In the end, we decided on Hell’s Fury. I know, it sounds frightening and dangerous, and that’s what we wanted. We were the number one pack in the world, but to those who really knew us, we weren’t mean and dangerous, we were kind and loving.

            Tomorrow, my father, Randy, and I would be traveling to Europe to broker deals with our pack. The Mutts had sent word that they were itching to start a war with us for me. But they didn’t count on us to go looking for friends to help. We weren’t afraid to ask for help when we needed it.

            I didn’t want to leave Cass, but it needed to be done. And he was needed here, with our pack. I smile as I absently run my hand over my stomach. I wasn’t sure, but I had a suspicion that Cass and I would be proud parents in several months. I hoped it was a boy like Cass. Not only because I would love to see a little him running around the house, but too, I was afraid that if the pup was a girl, she would turn out like me, and her life would be spent looking over her shoulder for danger until she found her mate.

            I didn’t want that for a daughter of mine. Noticing that Cass was about to turn around, I move from the window to finish my packing. Randy and I would be leaving bright and early in the morning and I was only half way finished. Groaning, I start tossing clothes onto the bed, wishing that it was Lynx and Nina going instead of me.
