Chapter 14
"Still not answering?" I asked Stiles as we left our last class for the day.
Stiles gave me a grumpy look before huffing, "No... and it's getting really annoying."
"Hey, do you think you can drive me to Lydia's? I want to check on her," I asked.
"Yeah, why not," he smiled over to me.
The drive over to Lydia's didn't take long. Lydia's mom hugged me and welcomed us in as she motioned up the stairs to where Lydia's room was at. I motioned Stiles over with me as we ascended the stairs. I knocked on the door before opening it to find Lydia lounging on her bed.
"Hey Lyds," I smiled over to her, "Stiles and I wanted to check up on you."
"What the hell is a Stiles?" Lydia asked in response.
I looked over to her mom as she told us, "She took a little something to ease her nerves. You can... You can go in."
"Thanks," I gave her a smile as she left the room.
"What are you doing here?" Lydia asked.
"I was just making sure you were okay," I moved closer to her, "That's what best friends do."
"Hmm..." Lydia hummed in thought, "Why?"
"Uh," I laughed, watching as Stiles took a seat on the bed, "Because I was worried about you today."
"How are you feeling?" Stiles asked.
"I feel fantastic," Lydia grinned over to him.
I moved over to her nightstand as I picked up the bottle that held her current medication. I couldn't help laugh at what it was. I tossed the bottle over to Stiles to see and he laughed nervously.
"Oh! I bet you can't say, I saw Suzy sitting' in a shoeshine shop 10 times fast," he commented.
"I saw Shuzy" Lydia attempted with purpose, "Uh I shaw... I saw..."
"What?" Stiles jumped at her sudden change of mood.
I shushed him as I tried to approach the situation with ease, "Lydia, what did you see?"
"Something," Lydia asked simply.
"Something like? Like a mountain lion?" I asked again.
"A mountain lion," she confirmed.
Stiles jumped back into the questioning, his Sherlock side of his brain starting to kick into action, "Are you sure you saw a mountain lion, or are you just saying that because that's what the police told you?"
"A mountain lion," Lydia looked over to him.
I picked up the stuffed giraffe I gave her when we went to the zoo trip back in elementary school and showed it to her, "What's this?"
Lydia turned over to me, looking at the toy I held before her and answered, "A mountain lion."
"Okay..." I gave up, "You're so drunk..."
I tossed the stuffed animal on her bed before turning to the sound of a notification coming from her phone. I just reached out for it out of habit and looked at the message she receives. The video attached to the message almost caused me to drop the phone as I looked over to Stiles.
If the video was a shock, seeing Lydia's face on Stiles' lap was even worse. I wanted to be angry but the fear that came off from Stiles showed he wanted an out. I picked Lydia up and placed her back onto her pillows. I forwarded the message to myself before deleting the one from Lydia's phone.
