The two sat in thick silence for a minute while Stanley processed it all. He already knew about Richie's obvious feelings for Eddie, but actually hearing him confess was a whole new level. "Can you please say something? I hate the silence," Richie said. "I know you hate the silence with how much you talk," he responded.
A small smile came onto Richie's lips and he looked down at his lap. "Where were we?" Stanley asked. "When you kissed Eddie?" Richie adjusted his glasses and nodded. "Yup," he said and drummed his hands on his thighs as he thought. "After that, I ran back home and called you and Beverly - you know that part," Richie said and Stanley nodded. "Wait, did you talk to Eddie after kissing him or did you just.. run off?" He asked. Richie forced out a chuckled and leaned backwards. "You're gonna love this," Richie said. "I ran away. No conversation."
Stanley sighed deeply and rubbed his eyes. "You're such a coward," he muttered under his breath. "What?" Richie asked and he shook his head. "Just keep going." Richie brushed it off and jumped back into the story, starting after Stan and Beverly left his house.
He sped past the phone call with Bill and Beverly, only hitting key points before getting to the part of the story where Eddie climbed his roof. "I was just laying in bed, thinking about everything when this fucker scares the living shit out of me by knocking on my window," Richie explained as he motioned to Stan's window and he narrowed his eyes. "Eddie climbed your roof? Seriously?" He asked and Richie nodded. "Yes, seriously! And it scared the fuck out of me."
Stan looked away, an amused smile playing at his lips. "Anyway- I let him in of course and he wanted to talk about the.. the thing."
"The kiss?" Asked Stanley.
"I.. uh, sure," Richie said with a wave of his hand. "He wanted to talk about that and I kinda pretended not to know what he was talking about. He got mad at me and-"
"What else is new?" Stanley interrupted. Richie pushed out a breath and crossed his arms. "Anyway," he said. "He got mad and I.. told him.. that I liked him." Stan raised an eyebrow when Richie stopped talking. "And? What else happened?" He asked. Dread tickled at Richie's stomach. "Eddie got scared. Like- using his inhaler scared and I.. ran off."
Stanley's eyebrow twitched with confusion and he raised a hand in the air. "Wait, let me get this right," he said and lowered his hand. "You ran out of your own house?" Richie sucked in a breath and looked off to the side. "Technically.. yes?" He said.
Stan groaned lightly and pushed his face into his hands. "Why, Richard? You almost had him!" He said and lifted his face. "You're such a coward," he muttered again. "I heard that!" Richie said as he slapped his hands to his knees. "Well it's true! You ran out of your own house!"
"Well, what was I supposed to fucking do, Stanley?" Richie asked, leaning forward. "Kick him out?" Stanley shook his head. "No! You're supposed to talk to him! That's what we've all been telling Eddie to do all day." Richie huffed and slid off the bed before spinning around. "Fine! I'll do that! I'll talk to him," he said and Stan asked, "Will you run away this time?" Richie glared at Stan. "No, I won't."
Stanley stood up off his bed and fixed his shirt. "Then let's go," Stan said and Richie narrowed his eyes in confusion. "To where?" He asked. Stanley picked up one of Richie's shoes and tossed it to him. "To go talk to Eddie."
