When I was little,
My mother lost me

And the world broke me

My strangers conned me
And society turned me

It kept me breathing.
It kept me here.
And as I grew older
I lost me
I left me
And I broke me

Now empty words
Now echoing in my head.
Now without meaning.
And when I was older
I counted me out
I conned myself
And I turned from the rest.
