"Den!"

He was leaning by the tree in the park, still sweating, and as he heard the shout, he looked around. It was just getting dark, and the night had just begun.

He had sixty pounds in his jacket pocket, and he intended to spend it all tonight, getting extremely drunk, forgetting his problems. After all, he wasn't working tomorrow.

He hoped he would meet up with Yolana later, he was feeling in need of some action. And if not, then who knows? He might find someone else. Shame he couldn't take anyone else home with him. That was the bad thing about living at home. Becky, or Jenny, would inevitably find out and discover he was cheating on Yolana. He had cheated on his ex-girlfriend Ellie, and Becky had blabbed to her. They got back together again, but she was never the same after that. She never trusted him.

"Den!"

It was Matt Smith, and he was running in his direction. It was about the time that he had told everyone to meet up, in this location, so his presence did not surprise Deny, but his manner did.

"What?"

Matt had arrived now, slightly breathless from his running. "Just seen your sister with that Williams creep."

Deny stared blankly. "Where?"

"Corner of Theatre Close. Being far too friendly with each other."

Deny said nothing. He didn't want Williams to spoil his night. If he went to find them now, while they were together, Jenny would cause an even bigger scene. She might even get his dad involved, and if there was one person Deny could not defy, it was his father.

He knew by now that Jenny did have feelings for Williams. It was evident from the way she spoke about him, stood up for him, the way she was these last few days. She was like a different person. A stronger person.

Deny had proof, anyway. Thursday night, for example. He had seen them through his bedroom window, and then later on he had seen them through Jenny's bedroom window, walking down the road.

He was totally unimpressed by these developments. There was no way he was going to stand for a creep like Williams seeing his little sister. He was no way good enough for her.

Lenny Stevens approached from the same direction, as Deny walked over to Matt. "Listen," he said to Matt. "And you, Len."

Obediently, the two huddled towards him.

"Not a word to anyone," he said, "About yesterday. It wasn't us. If he's got any sense, he won't squeal anyway. And boys?"

They both nodded. Deny noticed Rick Hortsmouth walking towards them. He was quite a way off yet however. Deny did not want Rick to know, as he had a tendency to let things slip quite easily.

"I don't want anything said about anything to do with it tonight. Not to me, not to anyone. It's forgotten. For now." He gestured with a wave.

Matt and Lenny looked at each other, and nodded again. "Especially not to the ladies, Den?

Deny smiled, smugly. "Those who may be impressed by our exploits may hear about the incident, as long as no names, places or times are supplied!"

The others laughed. Rick, who had now reached the park gate, put his arm on Deny's shoulder.

"Hey!" he shouted, indiscreetly. "I heard all about the fun you had with Williams yesterday!"

Lenny and Matt just looked at Rick coldly. Deny span around and pinned Rick to the tree trunk behind him by his shoulders.
