Jordan stopped his 45-minute walk and stopped in front of a crumbled building. He glared at the ruined death-site of his mother "So this is the old Power Plant..." he muttered. He stared at the place, before reluctantly going inside. He didn't even manage to look around the room before having a sudden coughing attack. As his coughs died down, he glanced around the room. He could make out very few things. He searched his bag for a flashlight. He lit it up and pointed it around the room. The place was a ruin. Pieces of rumble were around, the only furniture in the room being a wooden desk and a bookshelf, both heavily damaged.
His eyes instantly fell on a burnt notebook, lying on top of the desk. 'Maybe this will give me a clue about what happened here, all these years ago...' he thought as he walked towards the desk. He carefully picked up the notebook and opened it. He scowled 'It's useless! No pages are readable!' he thought angrily, but decided to keep the notebook, for now. He decided to look around the room, hoping to find something else. And he did. A piece of burnt paper. 'Could it belong to this notebook?' he thought as he picked it up. It read 'Report #1: Prog -- is ---- --- -- --dename 092. --- ----- --- from radiation-----s biofiber. It ---- -- ---- to reconstru-- --- -- damage-'
He read the damaged piece of paper over and over, trying to make sense of its contents '--dename 092? It must mean 'Codename 092'. But what does it mean?' he thought stuffing the paper inside the notebook. After looking around for another minute he decided to head in deeper.
He went through the door leading to a corridor. He started walking around, taking note that the deeper he walked inside the Plant, the harder it was to breathe. He saw a door close to him, but chose to look for clues deeper inside. He headed inside a room, which consisted of two desk-sized computers. He saw a closed door inside the room. He went to open the door, but failed. "Tch, it's locked... And I doubt there is a key around!" he muttered annoyed.
He went back to the room closest to the door that lead him to the corridor. Inside were three more of the desk-sized computers. But Jordan didn't pay them no mind. His eyes landed instead on the fallen piece of paper in the corner of the room. It read 'Report #02: --- power core ------ from over----. It ---- ------ a large ---- -- nuclear fuel to -------. ---- ---- activated- -- --- -- prod--- ---- limitless energy.'
'Limitless energy? For what?' he thought putting the note away.
The next report was in the corridor next to a bookshelf. It read 'Report #03: Th - MRI ------ anomalous brainwave ------ns. --- specim-n ----- -- inca----e -- indep---ent thoug--. We --- ---ing -- - suppress---.'
'MRI? Why would they perform an MRI? I thought that they were working on some clear form of energy? Was this energy source... alive?' he thought as he put the note away.
The next report was harder to find. He had to get to the deepest parts of the Plant. He opened a door that lead in what, looks like it used to be an office. He instantly noticed a burned piece of paper on the ground. He instantly thought it was a note and picked it up, only to instantly drop it afterwards. It wasn't a note. It was a picture. A picture of him when he was younger. 'This must have been mother's office.' he realized. He glanced sadly around the room. It consisted of two broken bookshelves and a desk. On the desk laid the note and a shiny metal item. When Jordan walked in front of the desk, he realized that it's a key. 'Could it be for this room that I was unable to enter?' he thought picking it up and pocketing it. He then picked up the note. It read 'Report #04: ---- -- the Interface --- final---- today. Th- -erator - -- ---- - ----- full control -- --e Sp-cimen. ---- chief reseacher, Dr. ----- --s ---- granted clearance.'
Jordan raised an eyebrow 'Specimen? So it was alive? And what does it mean with 'Granted clearance.'?' he thought baffled, stuffing the note inside the notebook.
