It was seven in the evening and I was sitting alone in my dorm room. Ashton was out with a couple of friends while I stayed back and messed about on my phone.
"Hey Niall," Liam said, entering my dorm, "do you wanna come to the store with me? Calum isn't feeling well, and I told him I'd go get him some medicine." I contemplated on going with Liam due to the strange feeling coming back, but I ended up saying yes.
"Uh, yeah," I told him, getting up and pulling on some black ripped skinny jeans and slipping on a pair of white converse. "Let's go."
We walked out of my dorm, down the hall, and took the lift down to the lounge. Neither myself nor Liam owned a vehicle at the time, so we walked to the store that was only about three blocks away.
"So how's your psychology class?" I asked Liam, shoving my hands in my pockets as we walked.
"It's great!" He told me. "Right now we're learning how to characterise a person as bipolar. It's quite easy to identify in adults but not so easy in children."
"Oh yeah?" I asked, a bit intrigued in the topic. "How so?"
"Well," he started, "in adults, bipolar depression is easy to identify due to the very extreme highs and lows of moods they experience. When it comes to children, though, people often mistake ADHD for bipolar depression because the symptoms are so similar."
"Well thank you Mr. Payne for that psychology lesson," I said with a laugh.
"I'm sorry. I know that probably wasn't as interesting ad you were hoping."
"No, Liam, that was actually pretty cool. I didn't know that. You know I love learning new stuff from you psychology class!"
"So have you met Michael Clifford?" He asked me. We were only about a block away from the store at that point.
"Michael Clifford..." I repeated. "Um, I don't think so. Why?"
"I don't know..." He trailed off.
"Oh do you like him?" I asked, winked at Liam and nudging him with my elbow.
"Shut up," he laughed. "Maybe a little."
"How do you know him?"
"He's in my psychology class."
"Ah."
"He's a really awesome guy," he told me. "Apparently he's really close friends with Calum too."
"Well why don't you ask him out?"
"I-I don't know. I mean, he's really cool and probably way out of my league." I laughed.
"Don't be such a pussy!" I said to him as we entered the parking lot of the store.
"Fine," he sighed. "I'll talk to him tomorrow, alright?"
"Good," I said with a smile. We entered the store and walked to the back where the pharmacy section was.
"So what are we looking for?" I asked him.
"Um, Calum said his head was hurting," he told me. "Maybe some Advil and Tylenol. Give him one at one time and the other at another." I nodded and started searching for the medicine.
"Hey I'm gonna check the other side," I said to him. "I think there's more there."
"Alright," he said, bending down to look at some medicine boxes closer to the floor. "I'll be here."
I walked to the other side and started searching for some Advil and Tylenol. After searching for a few solid minutes, I couldn't find anything.
"Hey Li-"
In a flash, the lights went out. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Don't freak out. Don't freak out. Don't freak out.
"Niall!" I heard Liam's voice on the other side of the aisle.
"Li-"
Out of nowhere, a hand found its way to mouth. I, of course, freaked out and flailed my arms and kicked my feet. The hand over my face was replaced with another hand that had a small towelette in it and I instantly felt myself become drowsy, and the last thing I remembered was hitting the ground.
