Hailey's horse is the bottom one! :)

Keegan's POV:

I continued to stroke Hailey's hair as she slept. The easy rise and fall of her shoulders made me smile. It was nice to see her relaxed and calm after the war for once. Not once since I had met her had Hailey been relaxed or comfortable somewhere. Not that I knew of at least.

"Here, sir," I leaned forwards and told the driver.

As the Frisian horses drifted to the edge of the road, I gently woke Hailey up.

"Are we there?" she sat up slowly.

"Not exactly," I smiled slightly. "We have to drive to another place."

"Thank you, sir," Hailey nodded to the driver as he helped her off.

Merrick had done amazing things to Hailey. In the short time he had to train her, I thought he had done an excellent job. She was so mannerly, strong, and war-smart thanks to him.

"Thank you," I dipped my head to the man.

Hailey looked around in the small town we were in now. When I wrapped my arm around her back, she leaned into me and then walked forwards. I ended up renting a dark blue Acura TI while Hailey changed in the bathroom into jeans and a loose t-shirt.

"Can you please tell me where we're going?" Hailey pleaded once again as we stopped at a light.

Chuckling, I shook my head. "Nope."

"What if I use my powers to read your mind?" Hailey moved her fingers. "Or threaten to hurt you?"

"You won't," I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.

Laughing, Hailey only shook her head and kissed me on the cheek. "Fine....not this time, at least."

We rode in silence and Hailey held my hand, almost excitedly. "How did you afford this?"

"I have family," I said flatly.

"Tell me the truth Keegan," Hailey kept her eyes on the road.

"I swear," I blinked. "Logan and Hesh might have helped. Merrick gave us all part of his pay before he died too- he signed papers."

"Just don't go bankrupt," Hailey warned.

Chuckling, I shook my head. "Of course not!"

When we reached the airport, I grabbed our passports and tickets from the one bag I had brought with us the whole time. Wrapping my arm protectively around Hailey while we walked through different crowds of people, I led us to where our plane was loading. Security was easy and let us right through, especially after I showed them my badge, showing I was in a...special military force.

"What ever happened to bags?" Hailey looked slightly up at me.

"It's a surprise," I murmured in her ear.

Shaking her head, Hailey only shivered.

"Are you cold, love?" I murmured again.

"No," Hailey shivered again.

Taking off my jacket, I wrapped it around her shoulders and hugged her from behind. She sighed, shaking her head, and closed her eyes, leaning into me while we waited for our plane. "You didn't have to do that."

"Mommy!" a little boy cried out from the corner with little toys in it. "Casey knocked it over!"

"You're fine!" the mother snapped. "Build it again!"
