"What are those marks on your arms?" Keegan gently looked at my arm.

"The temple," I whispered. "It marked me. It's nothing. I promise it will go away soon." And it would.

After we stood up, Keegan concluded, "let's go home," and glanced back at the helicopter waiting for us.

"Can you give me a moment?" I asked slowly.

"Yes," Keegan smiled, kissed my cheek, and then went to the chopper.

"Thank you," I whispered, letting my words be taken from the wind as I touched the stone of the temple. "You gave me power. Or maybe it was my father."

Stepping back, I breathed deeply and then joined Keegan in the chopper.

I felt nervous as my foot touched my homeland and safe zone. When I stepped off, Keegan led me inside quietly and gently. I almost seemed scared.

"Hailey?" Hesh's familiar voice made me turn and smile slightly.

"David!" I called him by his real name.

He wrapped his arms around me instantly and hugged me tightly. Keegan, for once, didn't tense or glare at Hesh. If anything he was calm and didn't care at this point. Hesh let go of me, but still held my hands in his while he looked slightly down at me.

"You're home. You're safe...that's all that matters," Hesh smiled slightly. "And you took care of that bastard, right?"

"W-where's Logan?" I asked the question that no one had wanted to hear yet. "I felt him disappear from me. Is he...is he dead?"

Hesh and Keegan glanced at each other and then nodded slowly. Covering my mouth with my hand, I ran outside and fell to my knees.

"Hailey!" Hesh and Keegan both followed me out.

"No!" I cried out.

Crying, I opened my mouth and fell to my knees. Bending over so that my hands that held my head touched the ground, I sobbed and cried out things that weren't even words.

Logan's POV:

I watched as the life drained from Rorke's eyes. Hailey sat on him with triumph and breathed out of her mouth. My heart soared as I had watched her repeat the move we had first connected on. As my vision faded from seeing Hailey's face again, I knew they were taking me away. I had lost my battle.

"Stop!" a childish and girly laugh sounded out in the darkness.

"Hello?" I called out. "Who's there?"

"Logan!" I realized the voice was Hailey. "Come on!"

Opening my eyes, I saw Hailey in a beautiful white dress. She was laughing and running around in a meadow, chasing a butterfly. Surprisingly, she was the same age she was now. I chuckled at her childish movements, but then widened my eyes when the landscape around her turned gray and dark- rotten.

Water started filling up around her ankles and then she narrowed her eyes, which had turned from a green to a dark red. Her hair became wet and the dress floated around her in the fast moving water.

"Logan, this isn't a game anymore!" her voice sounded older. "Come on!"

I watched her turn and then she started wading out across the water. "Wait!" I reached for her. "I won't let you drown! Wait for me!"

Even though I tried to move my feet, I stayed where I was. Hailey kept getting farther and farther away from me. Water started coming up around me and then the world around me became dark.
