Two days later, Claire's funeral is held. It's a very small affair, and not many people know about it. Only Zayn and Alec and his family.

The sun is shining brightly and warmly, the sky is a beautiful cerulean blue colour, and there is a certain sweetness in the wind which annoys Zayn to no extent. Why can't the weather match his current mood? Why can't it be raining and storming? Why can't the sky cry for his sister?

"Is Davis coming?" Zayn asks Alec, not really wanting him to come. But he knows Claire would have, so he just sucks it up.

Alec shrugs, "Well, the word has been sent. Now we just have to wait and see."

"Claire was a wonderful human being. She was beautiful in every aspect, sweet and determined and so, so strong. Just once, just once when she sets her mind to something she achieves it. No matter what. She was like a little sister to me, even if she was the one who was older." Alec laughs slightly, tears falling down his cheeks.

Zayn squeezes his eyes shut, every single memory of theirs, every single laugh they shared, everything is running through his mind like a painful slideshow. He gasps, his chest clenching so painfully it's hard to breath, and he doesn't even acknowledge Alec's mother's embrace of comfort to him.

"She bore every punch thrown her way by Life with a smile on her face. Who does that?" Alec laughs again "But... But I guess a person can take only so much. Life became too much and... I could say we should be happy she is in a better place, away from all the pains and sufferings. But what do we know, anyways? I just hope that wherever she is, she is happy." Alec pauses and takes in a deep breath, stepping off. He slowly walks towards us, tears falling down his already red face.

God always takes the best ones.

Staring at Claire's grave, Zayn knows. He knows she will be looking over him. But he also knows that without her — his anchor — he is lost. She was the one who glued back his broken pieces and now...

Now...

Davis never came. At the funeral of his own daughter, Davis never came. And Zayn almost heard Claire's non-beating heart breaking in her grave.

Now what?

He knows. He knows he will never be the same.
