Jax's POV

My life has been pretty hectic lately. My ex, Vanessa, just randomly came back into my life when she moved from Sydney to Miami. Vanessa and I's relationship is complicated, to say the least. Vanessa and I dated for 2 years before I left Sydney and moved to Miami. Since I knew Vanessa, the principal decided it would be for her to have a familiar face show her around.

I haven't seen Emma at all today. As the bell rung, I realized that I wasted another class period focused on thinking about my life. Luckily, US History is pretty and I'm sure I won't be behind. It's time for lunch, and my stomach definitely agrees with me.

I walked to the cafeteria and grabbed the food that we were serving for the day. Surprisingly, our cafeteria food isn't as bad. I decided to scroll on social media as I waited for Emma to sit with me. This was finally free time for me; no Vanessa, I could finally see Emma.

I noticed someone placing their plate down and I automatically assumed it was Emma once feeling lips hit my cheek. "Hey, babe." I looked up, recognizing that was definitely not Emma's voice. To my surprise, it was Vanessa. "Vanessa, what are you doing? I told you, I'm seeing someone." I could tell that statement did not make Vanessa happy. Vanessa rolled her eyes and sighed, "Jax, this is just a phase. I know you moving from Sydney put a strain our relationship, so I solved this problem by moving here. You just have to trust that I'm here for you, only you. Whoever you're seeing doesn't know you like I know you." Vanessa have a devilish smile as she ran her hand up and down my arm. "Vanessa, I-"

Suddenly, Vanessa's lips were on my mines. My brain finally registered what was happening after 5 seconds, I quickly broke the kiss. The whole cafeteria quickly quieted as I looked around for an explanation. I finally saw why..

Emma was standing in the entrance to the cafeteria. Her brown eyes filling with tears and with a hand over her mouth in disbelief. She shook her head before running out of the cafeteria. I quickly stood up, "Emma, wait!" I called out as I tried to chase after her. I sighed and ran my hands down my face once realizing I was too late.

I turned back to Vanessa who had a smirk on her face, "You did that on purpose, didn't you? You knew I was seeing Emma. You knew Emma was standing was right there. Vanessa, please listen to me when I say this, we are through." I placed my hands on the desk as I leaned over, looking into her eyes. I shook my head before grabbing my belongings and walking out of the cafeteria.

I only had one thing on my mind — finding Emma Alonso.
