14: Oh things are just getting interesting.

Emma's POV

There are so thoughts running through my head. Heartache. Disbelief. Fooled. I guess, whatever Jax and I had was not important to him. After witnessing the incident in the cafeteria, I skipped school and went home. Well, to the home I now shared with Jax Novoa and his parents.

As I entered into the threshold, Jennifer immediately was worried. "Emma, it's so early for you to be home! Are you okay? Are you ill? Should I phone your parents?" She immediately bombarded me with questions as she checked to make sure I had no fever. I shook my head before trailing up the stairs to my room. I put my bookbag on a random bean bag before walking over to my desk.

As I logged into my computer, I noticed a video attachment being sent in my email. Curious, I opened the video and gasped. "Hi, pumpkin. It's your mom and dad. We're just checking up on you. Things in Africa are looking up, I know you wish we were there with you, but we will be back before you know it. Jake and Liana have been telling me about you and Jax." My heart clenched as my mom mentioned Jax's name. "I hope you aren't missing us so much and enjoy your high school year. We love and miss you more than anything. We've got to go pumpkin, but we'll talk soon." As the video ended, I noticed I had been crying. I missed my parents more than anything in the world.

A knock on the door quickly made me wipe my face, "Come in." Jennifer came into the room and immediately took me in for a hug. "Emma, I just heard what happened, I'm sorry." I nodded before pulling back and raising an eyebrow, "Wait, how did you find out?"

"Miss Information posted an update about it on her website.. I'm a subscriber." I let out a dry laugh, of course Miss Information posted this. How embarrassing! "Here's the video." Someone recorded the video too?, I thought. I watched as Vanessa and Jax kissed, I looked down. "J, don't you think that's enough?" Jennifer nodded, "Yeah you're right, I'm sorry." Jennifer moved to pause the video until I told her to stop as I heard Jax's voice.

"You did that on purpose, didn't you? You knew I was seeing Emma. You knew Emma was standing was right there. Vanessa, please listen to me when I say this, we are through." I listened in disbelief as Jax told off Vanessa. Maybe what I saw can be explained. Vanessa is definitely going to have to watch her back. No more naive Emma. "Oh, Jennifer, things are about to get interesting."
