Begin memory
"Does anyone in your house smoke?" The doctor asked.
"What? What are you accusing?" Mommy was angry as I lay in the hospital bed with an oxygen tank next to me.
"Has she been where there is a lot of smoke?" The doctor asked.
"Just tell me why my daughter suddenly began throwing up blood?!?" My mommy yelled as she stood up with a tissue in hand.
"Please calm down-"
"Don't tell me to calm down!"
"You're daughter has stage three-" the doctor began as my mommy began to sob.
"My God"
"Lung cancer" my mommy was in hysterics as she Numbly nodded her head and walked out.
End memory
I am now five years old. I am small for my age. I look two. I don't like to sleep, his voice scares me.
I don't talk much, I don't want to burden mommy and daddy. He says they only love me out of pity, that I'm all alone. That they don't care, but deep down, I know they do.
Mommy doesn't know, about him, I mean. About how when I sleep, I tend to claw at my stomach. I don't bleed a lot, but it does get sore. But I don't say anything. I don't want to burden them.
I don't want to be left behind again. I don't want to be alone. Never again.
Outside my room I can hear my mommy. "Reika come down to eat dinner." But I'm not hungry, and I don't want to anger her. So I lay down in my bed and close my eyes to go to sleep.
I do this a lot. When it is time to eat, I tend to force myself to sleep. He at least waits until she leaves to mock me with nightmares. Usually, at least.
She knocks on the door and just as she opens it, he speaks up. Mocking me. I feel sweat forming on my brow, as they scrunch up at the memory.
I can hear mommy yelling saying to get the first aid kit as she holds me by my hands followed by hurried footsteps. I'm not even fully asleep damnit! My eyes shoot open as I gasp for breathe.
I awoke to gray eyes brimming with tears staring back at my cerullean blue eyes just before I let my eyes travel down to my bleeding stomach. He did that on purpose. Now they know. And that's not all, either.
There's a lot more blood than usual. I kept staring at it in shock as daddy came back. As my daddy put a damp cloth to stop my bleeding core, tears begin to fall and I just let it.
As mommy put her hand over her mouth staring at the old scars no longer hidden by the flowing blood the tears fall even more. Daddy wipes the tears away and I look up in uncertainty as the blood stops flowing allowing them to realize for the first time that this has been going on for a while.
Feeling guilty, I squeeze my eyes shut and let my head droop. Tears falling in shame. Mommy wraps her arms around me as I shake and tremble.
"Reika, don't listen to him, ya know he's just a grumpy ball of fur." Mommy says in my hair.
"It's gonna be okay Reika." Daddy spoke as he rubbed my back in a soothing manner.
I began crying out loud. "Shhhhh," they whispered just as I heard his voice.
"You know they are only doing this so that their precious weapon doesn't die, right?" His voice said. Oh how I wish he would shut up. He makes everything worse. I flinched just as my surroundings changed.
