Chapter 12

I tell my brother everything that has happened. He looks at me his face blank.
"Nicole, just go. Just because you don't want a mate doesn't mean anything to Matt."

My jaw opens wide and my eyes start to water. No one understands. I push past Adam and go downstairs. I see my dad and Matt having a conversation. They stop in the middle of their conversation and look at me. I just want to scream. Why? Why me? I. Don't. Want. A. Mate.

"Nicole? Have you finished packing?" My dad asks
I ignore him and start walking towards the front door.
"NICOLE YOU BETTER-" I hear my dad start to yell at me from behind but he stops. I don't know why but I continue walking out. I don't know where I'm going...I just know I'm leaving this hell hole. I feel a tear drop start sliding down my cheek. Why won't they listen? As I'm about to cross the road I'm stopped by Matt's loud voice.

"Nicole!" He yells
I turn around and his eyes widen.
"Nicole...," he starts to jog towards me

He stands in front of me and cups my face in his hands using his thumb to wipe away the tear that had fallen.

"Nicole....," he looks down "why won't you give me a chance?"
I-I- mates are no good... They only cause trouble. He's still looks up at me again his eyes look a watery... Oh gosh... He had puppy dog eyes...don't fall for it Nicole- Awww!

"I-I just- mates cause trouble...they hurt you." I squeak out
His eyes widen and quickly go back to normal.
He looks me in the eye.
"Nicole, I will never hurt you- no one will hurt you."
He says determination in his voice, he hugs me. My vision gets blurry tears start flooding my eyes. I hug him back and sink my face in his chest.
