CHAPTER 5: Revelation Into The Unknowing Of Poppy Parker

Blonde and beautiful, as she was.

After watching Poppy strut soundlessly to class, I turned back to her obliviously confused group, while mine rub their hands in anticipation.

Everdeen is the first to speak up, "Can we please come to the sleepover and amusement park with you all?" Rosa-belle's jaw dropped at that, she almost drops the books in her hand when Andrew, to the rescue, collects them from her with a smug smile. Only he loses the smile when he noticed that, she wasn't even looking at him but holding a hesitant hand to her lips, shuttering the gasp that escapes.

Diana turns to Trevor in consideration, "What do you think?" He skilfully turns to me after furrowing his eyebrows, curious.

"We've noticed you've taken an interest in Poppy, we just wanted to know if it's true?" He asks and I can't help but gulp, no longer feeling confident. Were my feelings truly that obvious? It sure as hell wasn't obvious to her.

Ivan slaps a harsh comical hand on my shoulder, attempting to use momentum but, To no vail, "Yes, our man here does but, it's not the only reason why we all would like to join you. We've already become friends, perhaps we can get to know one another properly. We'll even take you all out to coffee first?" He offers with a chuckle but, it doesn't change their worried expressions.

Everdeen intervenes, no longer smiling, "What's wrong?"

Ivan slowly removes his hand, no longer portraying the comedian as a seriousness in him takes over, Rosa-belle collects her books from a now degraded looking Andrew who tried insisting to carry her books, she said 'No'.

"Nothing, it's just, Poppy probably won't be making for coffee and knowing her, she'll be late for the sleepover too. About the sleepover and amusement park, you all aren't going to pull some trick on us or something? We're just cautious, is all." Diana murmurs, biting the nail of her index finger in anticipation.

My jaw tightens, it was wrong and out of anger, which is why I say sincerely, "We deeply apologise for our childish actions before we actually got to know you. I admit, I pulled the strings in hopes to get your friend's attention but having to wait a few weeks to even see her again...proved difficult, is all." I finish with, not wanting to give anything way.

Carter chuckles, "Don't worry, dude. We know how to keep a secret but, with Poppy, it'll be awhile. She's been far more distant over the past few years, more than we expected and the way she treated the guy on the phone, we're the same." He murmurs quietly, no longer laughing as my eyebrows furrow for further explanation.

Diana sighs, giving Carter a pointed look, "She's still our best friend and you know exactly what happened for her to get this way, Carter. It's completely understandable because not one of us have been through what she has," just as she's about to continue and I step forward, she holds a hand in my direction to stop, pointedly, "-and No, I cannot explain to you what, that is for Poppy, when she is ready."
