Since Rone was busy at meetings all morning, I was able to sleep in till I had to go meet the Queen. I took my time drifting out of bed, in a sleepy dream like state. I made my way to the bathroom for a steamy hot shower, the floor was cold on my feet so I hurried, stripping off my clothes and jumping in.The water ran down my wings making me sigh in pleasure. Wings believe it or not is the most sensitive part of a Faes body, also the most durable. My wings cant be cut or torn, but the simple contact of water was like getting a deep massage. I could have stayed in the shower for hours, but I realized if I didn't get going I was going to be late.
Even though the Queen wasnt fond of leather pants on women, I wore them regardless. After all I wasnt watching after Rone right now. I let my hair down today so that my horns were visible, I almost forget they are there sometimes. Unlike mine, The Queens brown horns stood about nine inches high rising to a deathly, sharp point. I hurried out of my bedroom and made my way to the Queens fitting room.
................................................................................................................
"Right on time," the Queen said letting me into her fitting room. She had on a deep purple gown that brought out her violet eyes, when I looked into her eyes, I saw every bit of Rone. They were soft but at the same time always so careful, watching. She had me strip down to a bra and corset. She first had her ladies put a big petticoat on me to give my gown more definition. I had no idea how I was going to move in this but i'd manage.
"Here's the big reveal," the Queen said raising a thin white brow in anticipation as she unzipped the gown.
I had no words, it was huge the top was plain white but it faded to a very light icy blue ombre. The sleeves were just five thin straps of opal stones hanging to about mid arm. The neckline was a sweetheart cut, along with a built in corset in the back. The gown had layers of fabric Tiny opal stones scattered at the bottom of the dress. "It comes with a cloak as well," Queen Livina said.
Queen Livina unzipped the next bag that revealed a midnight blue cloak that tied at the neck. The hood of the cloak is what caught my attention, it had water like diamonds dangling on the edge. "Wow this is beautiful, you really know how to make a statement."
The Queens eyes light up with the compliment, "I knew this color would look amazing with your wings and dark hair. Now let's get this baby on you, I had your measurements before hand so this should fit like a glove."
It took what seemed forever to get the damn dress on, but when it was on I was honestly breath taken. I looked like an ice goddess, they tied the corset so tight my breasts seemed to rise to the skies, my waist signed to the max, extenuating my hourglass figure. The gown was heavy, and the skirt was huge and what seemed endless, it almost made me feel like a princess. "This dress is so heavy," I groaned trying to walk in the heels the Queen picked out.
"Well the more volume and fabric to the skirt the heavier it is. I wanted you to look amazing tonight," Queen Livina stated.
"I appreciate the dress, and everything but why?" She hardly knew me, and regardless she was the Queen why would she care if I look good.
"Well I guess I'll just be honest, as we both know you are well known for your strength, your gifts, and well now guarding my son. The council does not think Rone is ready to be a king, especially if he shows no hope of finding a Queen. It would look good if the two of you went together-"
"But what if people get the wrong impression?" I asked.
"It will be squashed, I know he'll find someone eventually he has to but for now I ask of you to please be okay with this. Everyone thinks Rone is some weak spoiled brat but he's not. I need to show his people the good man I know." I had no idea why I agreed at first and than it dawned to me. I felt like she was not only the Queen but my Queen and she needed this, she needed me. But I also cared for Rone and the thought of the council thinking less of him enraged me. I would help them both.
