When Rone left the school he was in a... sour mood. There was no small banter or snardy remarks, the entire time to Berellas he was silent. I guess i had been wishing for that but his silence was almost worse than his constant badgering.
We pulled up to Berellas home, it was nothing special just a small hut her and her family shared. Berella was in the front of her hut with her step sister, Jasmine. "Nadia!" she skipped over to me and I couldn't help but share her ridiculous smile. "I had a little feeling you'd be coming to visit me."
"I only have till five, but how is everything?" I asked, she kept shifting her gaze between the Prince and I, "What?"
"I just think it's so crazy that you actually guard the Prince now. But it makes sense, I couldn't think of anyone else good enough but you."
I rolled my eyes as we walked into her tiny hut, "So how is the team?"
Berella sat beside me at her tiny wooden dining table, Rone sat across from us. He looked out of place in Berellas home, covered in fine silk and metals on an old unstained table. "Well we lost a new recruit, a demon bit her on her first patrol and just like that she was gone. I didn't know her but she was sweet, you know, she was one of us."
My heart fell for Berella, every loss was sad but when it was one of us it was almost scary. The thought of it could have been you instantly runs acrossed your mind and then guilt for even thinking it. "Where's your parents?" I asked changing the subject.
"The market, you actually just missed them." I met Berella two years ago in training to be a Trax and even though she is strong, I do worry about her. Her mind wanders off too much and she doesnt have me to bring her back down to earth. "So, what do you guys want to do?" She asked picking up her mood and gazing over to Rone, her pale face flushed with excitement.
"I was thinking we could teach this one how to fight?" I pointed towards the prince. "I don't think he should be going over the walls but I do think he should know how to protect himself."
"Won't the Queen be mad?" Berella wondered her hands already fiddling anxiously.
"Who cares!" Rone said, he was way to excited and shocked by my words. "Teach me," He begged, "I'll listen, I'll do whatever you say." I could see how much he wanted this just by the fact that I had a Prince begging on his knees at my lap.
"If I teach you, you need to keep this a secret," I told him. "Don't make me regret this, and get up," I scolded him.
He nodded eagerly, "So what's first?"
"Well we basically learned with scrimmaging against each other," I said, "I'll have Berella square up with you first, she might be a little easier on you," I teased.
She wrinkled her nose and took off her shoes to stretch. "Rules are no magic and no face hits, anywhere else is game."
"Anywhere?" he asked raising a concerning brow, "Not the jewels, right?"
Berella licked her teeth, "Fine, baby."
I was actually going to enjoy this, if he really has never been trained Berella will have him on his ass in seconds. She's ungraceful and messy but she gets the job done. "Ready?" They both nodded, "Go."
As I thought she would Berella kicked out her strong leg and struck him in the chest, he went flying to the wall with a loud thud. "I thought you said she'd be easier on me," He coughed, and before I could respond Berella went charging with her fist ready to sink it in his side. This time he caught her fist but she just elbowed him in the chest and flipped him on his back. "How do you think that fast?" He growled in defeat.
