*Valerie's POV*

"Oh! Okay, Emma, I cannot breathe" I exclaimed as Emma pulled the strings of my purple dress that I would potentially be wearing to the Cotillion.

"Well, you can breathe after Cotillion" Emma said which made me roll my eyes at her.

"Well, I sincerely doubt that. I have at least 20 more events directly behind it, and I can't even remember what a single one of them is"

"Impeccable"

Emma started to tame my measurements with her measuring tape thingy, whatever it is.

"Emma?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you ever think about what we'd be doing if we were back on the Isle right now?"

"That's funny. Ah! Look who's on TV"

My attention got diverted to the TV that was on for some apparent reason.

"As the royal couple continues their tour of the kingdom, they dined with Aladdin and Jasmine. Six months ago..." The reporter stated.

"Yeah" I said out loud.

"No one thought King Ben and his girlfriend from the wrong side of the bridge would last" The reporter who was wearing a pearly white necklace, with a formal blue dress, spoke.

"Yeah, no kidding" I chuckled.

"Valerie must be counting the days until the Royal Cotillion, when she will officially become a Lady of the Court"

At this point of time I just stopped listening to the reporter and started to flip through my spell book and find a perfect spell. I could have swore I saw it here somewhere. Ahha! There it is.

"Read it fast at lightning speed. Remember everything I need" I said out loud and took out the rule book for the Lady of Court. I flipped through the pages quickly.

As I was reading I felt a pair of hands reach out for my book. Emma snatched the book away from me and looked at me with a disappointed face.

"I know your secret to fitting in, and Zach wouldn't like it one bit. Haven't you guys had enough secrets between the two of you already?"

"Emma, you remember what I was like before I started using my spell book. I mean, I was a complete disaster"

"Well, personally, as your best friend, I strongly believe that this spell book-It belongs in the museum, along with my mirror. Don't give me the face. Put the pout away. Mm-hmm. You know I'm right" I put up a straight face and sat back down on my pink bed. I think its starting to grow on me now.

"You don't ever miss running wild and just breaking all the rules?"

"Like stealing and lying and fighting?"

"Yeah!"

"No!"

"What?"

"Why would we? Val, come here. Look at where we are. We're in Auradon! And we're Auradon girls now" We looked outside the window which overlooked Zach talking to Christina with a serious look on his face. I wonder what they could be talking about?

"Since Val revealed her love of strawberries, she has received hundreds of cartons from her admirers. Here she is enjoying a cozy bite-" The reporter on the TV spoke.

Completely forgot that was even on.

"See, this is the land of opportunity. We can be whatever we want to be here. So, please, let's just leave the past in the past, okay? Besides, I mean, look at the shoes. Look at them" I looked down at my feet to reveal a shiny and silver pair of heels.

"mhm...severe" I agreed sarcastically.
