*Jonah's POV*
"All right, boys. Let's line it up. Corbyn, you're with me. Let's go"
"Yeah" Corbyn replied back and walked towards me.
"Assembler. Salute. Lower the point. Masks down. En garde. Keep your center!" I commanded.
Today for training, we are doing some fencing to improve our hand-eye coordination.
"Woah" Corbyn yelled as I almost hit him with the swords. Oops. Nonetheless, I continued with training the guys. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you guys! I'm the captain now!
"Eyes on your opponent! Up and over"
"Get him, Jonah" Corbyn encouraged me as I was fencing with one of the guys. No idea who it is though. Well mostly because I'm blind from wearing these 'masks'.
"Watch out Jonah!" Corbyn warned. This guy.
I ducked my head and I'm pretty sure that I avoided being hit by the sword.
"Nice!"
I could feel my sword hit someone so I immediately took off my mask to fund out that I won the game!
Everyone clapped their hands for me and the opponent took off their masks as well.
"It's Tate!" Christina yelled from the spectator area. She wasn't supposed to be here but she said she had to figure out some stuff about the Cotillion, so me being me, I allowed her to stay and watch till practice was over.
"Not bad" I said to Tate.
"You should put me on the team" Tate smirked and walked closer towards me.
"Hey, w-what?! No, no, no. We'll-- We'll be the laughing stock of the league. A-And what's gonna happen next? We'll have girls playing tourney? Come on, guys" Jack walked towards me and Tate.
"So?"
"So? The rule book? Section 2, paragraph 3, 11-4. 'A team will be comprised of a captain and eight men' Hmm? Why don't you read the rule book?" Jack took out his rule book from his pocket.
"Okay, yeah, but you're down a man! I mean, since Zach had to leave to do all that king stuff"
"Exactly. We're down a man" Jack snapped back.
"Jonah..." Tate pleaded me.
"I'm sorry. Coach trusts me. I'm not gonna stay captain if I just throw out the rule book"
Jack just watched us from a distance and I could tell he was internally celebrating.
"If my mother thought that way, she would have lost the war"
"Okay. Rule book. Rule book" Jack pointed at the rule book. Gosh I can't stand him.
"All right, guys. Practice is over. Let's go"
*Corbyn's POV*
"All right, guys. Practice is over. Let's go"
"Christina! Christina, hey. Hey" I called out and finally caught her attention. Finally! This is my moment to ask her out to the Cotillion.
"Hey, Corbyn, what's up?"
"Uh... Not much. You?"
"Way too much. We were gonna go with the blue and gold banners for Cotillion, but now we can't find the right shade of blue"
"Oh, yeah, no, that's a-that's a bummer. Um, speaking of Cotillion-"
"I know, right? It's all anybody is talking about. Cotillion 24/7"
"I-"
"It's like they've never been to one before"
"Uh...I haven't, actually" I pointed out.
"Oh. Lucky. I always end up serving punch with my mom anyway. This year, I got stuck on the decorating committee because Audrey went off to a spa vacation with Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather"
"Christina, maybe we should just-"
"Skip the whole thing? I really, really wish I could. It's so nice to have a friend who's on the same wavelength" Okay, maybe not the right time to ask her.
"Oh, you got me!" I joked
"I got to go. Great practice, though"
"Yeah" I agreed.
"See ya" And with that, Christina walked away, leaving me and Doug all alone in the room.
"It wasn't the right time, all right?" I said to Doug who was growling at me.
