Your New Best Friend
Chapter 1: First Contact
Y/N's POV
It is a cold, frigid day. Winter has always been my least favorite season. I hate the snow, the cold and especially the joyous people celebrating it. Excuse my saltiness but having to send mail to people each day in this condition has a way of making people salty.
"Stop complaining." I mumble to myself. "It's your own fault. Beggars aren't choosers, you know?"
I was a college student. Keyword being was. Now, I'm a dropout trying to survive by delivering parcels. I live alone in an abandoned cabin out in the woods. My day consisted of waking up in the morning, taking my orders; delivering them and coming back home in the afternoon.
Today is no different. At least it should be if nothing unexpected happen. I am just about to get back into my home, light the fireplace and chill out. Then, I hear some twigs snapping.
I know, I know. Nothing's weird about twig snapping, just ignore it. In case you forget, I live in the middle of the goddamn woods. Who know what made that sound. Bears? Wolves? Whatever it is, I would rather find it first rather than have it find me first.
So, I start making my way toward where the general direction of the sound. I know there is a lake in that direction that I figured would be the destination of the thing(?). The lake is probably frozen already but it is my best shot. I make my way slowly and carefully toward the lake. Upon my arrival there, I hide behind a tree and peek out toward the lake.
"Huh? Look like there's nothing here." I murmur under my breath as I look around. "I guess I'll just... What the hell is that thing?"
It seems that I spoke too soon. There is a person directly in front of me. At least, it looked like a person, still looked weird though. It is sitting on a rock and thankfully has its face turned away from me. Whatever it is, it's there and it's pink. It's also starting to turn its head toward... Just in time, I duck my head back behind the tree. That was close.
I peek through the other side of the tree where I could see its reflection in the frozen lake. I wait until it turns back and wait a little bit more before peeking out again. Upon closer inspection, I decide that it must have been a human. She looks way too human to be anything else.
She has magenta hair tied into two pigtails. Her clothing consisted of magenta top with pointy shoulders and pink shorts. On her hands are pink wrist-length gloves and on her legs is a pair of pointy knee-high boots. As you might have suspected, her complexion is also pink.
Then, I heard something unexpected. I thought I was just imagining things at first but now, it is definitely there.
"Sniff, sniff..." There is a sobbing sound and it is definitely coming from her.
With a sigh, I ask myself. "What am I supposed to do now?"
