Back home, Tails saved a document filled with research notes and plans of action. "Alright, not a bad start. I need more info, however. I'll see if I can convince Sonic, somehow..." He had made phone calls and now had a few arrangements set, but not all of them.

Sonic walked into the workshop, and gave Tails a tired hug. "Heya buddy. I managed to get Vector to search for the last Emerald, but I think he scammed me out of some of my rings." He gave a sad moan.

"It's okay, Sonic." Tails smiled, patting Sonic's back. He showed Sonic a webpage. "This is our bank. Together we have almost 500,000 rings." He smiled proudly. "499,200 to be exact."

Sonic's eyes opened wide and his jaw practically dropped to the floor. "H-how?? When did we get that much?? You rob the Casino or something?" He was amazed.

"Nope. It's from all our adventures together. We don't age, and somehow we've been adventuring together for the latter part of 20 years." He giggled.

"That long, huh." Sonic reflected for a moment. "I guess that makes sense. Apart from the aging thing." He thought. "Maybe it has something to do with being so close to the Emeralds."

"Maybe, but team work made the dream work." He closed the webpage. "Anyway, how was your trip?" Tails hugged Sonic happily.

"Good. Was able to stretch my legs. Ran into a few of Eggman's robots, but nothing I couldn't handle. Rouge has the Light Blue Emerald, and Knuckles has the Red Emerald, and I got Vector to look for the last one." Sonic briefed.

"Good." Tails smiled. "Wanna go exploring?"

"Sure, but where to? The desert? Jungle? Station Square?" Sonic wondered.

"There's a mansion just outside Green Hill I wanna check out." Tails grasped Sonic's hand.

"Okay then... I guess we could go there." Sonic was a bit reluctant, as he's had bad experiences with mansions before. But he couldn't look scared now. Not in front of Tails.

"Yes, it's close to Halloween, but we're not going there for spooks. We're going during the day. It's an active mansion, and I hear it's beautiful this time of year." Tails squeezed Sonic's hand. "Please?"

"Fine. Let's get moving." Sonic gave Tails a kiss on the cheek as they wandered towards the mansion. Once there, Tails stood in awe of it's beauty. The sun lit it up wonderfully. "Let's go in." He started towards the door, but Tails held back.

"Let's explore the outside first!" Tails graced Sonic's hand with his thumb.

Sonic held Tails hand tight, smiling as they walked around. "There a maze behind this place? There's usually one." He gave a stereotype.

"No, but they have a few gardens and statuaries." Tails looked around.

Sonic walked with Tails to one of the gardens. It was very well kept, and growing nicely. Sonic laid in the grass. "Aww yeah. I could sleep here." He stretched.

"Maybe play in the mud." Tails joked. "Now for the inside."

"But it's so fine out here." Sonic protested. "We don't need to go in there. It's just like every other old house anyway. Old, run down, and falling apart." He stated a past experience.

"Wrong." Tails stood up and marched towards the door, seeming offended.

"Wait, Tails!" Sonic reached for him. "Ugh... I hate big houses." Sonic got up and followed Tails inside. The inside was beautiful, well maintained, and actively being used.

In fact there was an attendant cleaning a rug with a vacuum, and a desk to their left with someone attending it too. "Welcome to Grammarcy Mansion." They welcomed.
