Chapter 6: Covert

Once home, Sonic laid Tails on the couch. "He's so peaceful, and cute..." He blushed. He then saw it was time for lunch, so he got to making sandwiches in the kitchen, careful not to wake Tails. The sun beamed through the window, hitting a plant on the windowsill. Sonic soon finished the sandwiches. "Wake up, Tails. Lunch time." He called out, but Tails stayed asleep. A beam of sun hit Sonic's eye, calling attention to the plant on the windowsill. "Huh?" He looked at the plant. A label reading Cosmo shined from left to right. "He still keeps her close... Poor Tails." Sonic remembered. The plant was growing beautifully, and even perked in Sonic's presence. "Yeah. Our adventures with Chris. Tails was with me that whole time too."

A whisper graced Sonic's ear. "I approve."

"Huh? Who's there?" Sonic looked around, but Tails was still asleep. The label on the plant gleamed once again. Sonic smiled, realizing Cosmo had just spoken to him. "I'll look after him. I promise, Cosmo." He smiled at the plant.

"Thank you. Give him a kiss for me." She whispered as the sun got hidden by some clouds.

Sonic laid next to Tails and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Tails began to stir from his nap. "Cosmo?" He asked sleepily.

"Just me silly." Sonic smiled at Tails. "Cosmo's still sitting there on the window." He pointed. "Have a good nap?"

"I heard her her voice..." Tails released a tear.

Sonic cuddled Tails. "It's okay. I know you miss her a lot. I miss her too." He spoke in a calming manner.

Tails purred and his stomach growled. "Lunch?"

Sonic ran out then back into the room with a plate of sandwiches. "Way ahead of you."

"Thanks." Tails began nomming. "Tuna with relish. Nice."

Sonic munched on chili dogs that he made earlier. "So good~"

Tails gave thumbs up. "Once I'm 100% better, we can go looking for Eggman, crush his base so he can't attack for a while." Tails gave an idea.

"Yeah, he's stubborn I'll give him that. At least we got some Chaos Emeralds. 3 more than what he has." Sonic smiled victoriously.

"We don't know that. We need four more. We have Blue, Silver, and Yellow. We still need Green, Light Blue, Purple and Red." Tails listed all the colors.

"If he had more than those robots, he would be at least a bit harder to beat. They went down way too easy." Sonic growled.

"Even with the bots, that last battle was tough." Tails rubbed his head with a sigh. "Part of me wants to destroy his base so he can't build, but another part of me wants him to build just so we have a challenge. It's no fun if it's too easy!" Tails gave a low growl.

"I do prefer the challenge. Keeps me on my toes." Sonic dashed around.

"Shadow had the Purple Chaos Emerald last I checked. The others are unaccounted for." Tails checked his memory.

"That's good. One more for our side. Let's just hope he doesn't turn on us." Sonic looked out the window.

"Who, Shadow? He's a double agent. You never know what he's gonna do." Tails recalled their adventures with Shadow. Sonic cuddled up to Tails, giving him a kiss and playing with both his Tails. "You ever want to cuddle one of those huge plush animals that are like ten times bigger than you?" Tails imagined doing that.

"Why, when I can cuddle you instead?" Sonic purred.

"Because envelopment. I just wanna sink in that soft fuzz and sleep~" He purred and imitated his action against Sonic.

"I can understand why." Sonic kissed Tails cheek.

"Should we relax today?" Tails rested his head on Sonic's shoulder.

"Sure thing, buddy." Sonic rested next to Tails, holding him close. Tails finished his sandwich. Sonic kissed Tails passionately. "I want you, Tails. So much."

"Well, I'm right here. No need to want me." Tails giggled, not understanding.

"No, Tails... I mean, I love you and I want to show you how much I do." Sonic tried to explain.

"Don't you do that with the hugs, and the kisses, and the cuddles?" Tails played hard to get.

"Yeah I suppose you can. But when you really love someone, like how I love you, we do lots more than just cuddling and kissing." Sonic hand rubbed Tails belly, slipping into his crotch area. "Something much more fun~" Sonic gave a seductive growl.

"Sonic..." Tails purred. "We should take this slow." He swat Sonic's hand away with one of his tails.

"You're right, sorry." Sonic backed away. "You know I'm bad at taking things slow." He blushed. "I won't push it. I love you too much to do that." 

Tails smiled. "Thank you. How about this. If and when we get all the Chaos Emeralds, we'll see." Tails promised. Just then, he got a big idea. A massive idea for a big secret. He did his best to keep the rush of ideas and plans for this secret off his face.

"You know, I'll find them before the sun sets if you promise that." Sonic joked.
