A/N- This involves Characters from Blood Bourbon - If you are reading that story, it is strongly suggested that you finish it first, as this follows the events of that book.

Meri stretched as she climbed out of the car parked in Knight Corp's parking garage. She and Daryl had been working together quite a bit, kicking ass and taking names and helping people who genuinely needed it. She always had a blast, but it still felt great to finally be home.

"Mer, don't forget your keys." Daryl spoke from the driver's side.

Meri held up her hand and Daryl tossed her keys to her. "Thanks, D."

The cowboy's phone chimed indicating that he'd received a text, and he pulled it out of his back pocket to look. His adorable lopsided grin told her who had messaged him.

"I guess Ryker is going to meet you?"

Daryl looked up at her and offered her a smile. "Yeah. He's on his way down now. Says that two weeks is too long and he's going to tie me down and never let me leave the apartment."

Meri rolled her eyes, "God, it's like they can't function without us."

"I know." Daryl chuckled, but Meri could tell by the glit in his eye that he was secretly basking in his mate's attention...and he was considering Ryke's proposal of tying him down.

Grabbing her duffel bag out of the back of the car and slinging it over her shoulder, Mer pulled out her own phone and looked at the screen, fighting her frown when she realized King Vampire still hadn't texted her. The asshole Ryker had texted the cowboy, but Car hadn't messaged her.

"Did you hear, Mer?"

She shook her head, looking at Daryl who was now grabbing his bag from the backseat. "Sorry. Wasn't paying attention. What'd you say?"

He shut the car door as he hefted the bag. "I was just asking if you and Sam are still on for working out tomorrow night. Maybe the three of us all grabbing dinner somewhere?"

"Of course!" Meri winked. She was always happy to work out with Daryl, purely because he was excellent to spar with and not because of his eight pack. Well, maybe in part because of his eight pack. "What else are we going to do while our assholes are away for that two day meeting in Atlanta?"

"Great!" Daryl said as the elevator chimed and his eyes cut to the vampire now stalking towards him. Upon seeing his mate, Dary's face lit up in a way that made Mer smile. She could practically feel their happiness.

"See you tomorrow!" Mer turned with a wave, passing Ryker on her walk towards the elevator.

The vampire nodded to her as he spoke, "Human..."

"Asshole..." she replied.

Ryker rolled his eyes. "His lordship requested that I tell you he's in an unexpected meeting and he'll see you soon."

As if sensing her disappointment he added quietly, almost absently, "He seemed...upset that he wasn't able to greet you."

Mer grinned a little at his words. "Go make out with your cowboy, asshole. You vampire jerks are leaving in about 24 hours."

She didn't have to tell them twice, and they were already embracing one another by the time the elevator doors shut in front of her. They were fucking incorrigible.

Meri was asleep as soon as she put her feet up on the couch. She didn't even wake up when Car opened the door and quietly crept into the living room.
