Azriel has gone without a mate for too long. Told from the reader's and Az's perspective, this book tells the story of Az and you. All characters belong to Sarah J Maas, not me!!
Y/N hopped out of bed. Today they were going to Rita's, and Y/N still needed to try on her dress. Y/N changed slowly, careful to draw the curtains, not eager for Cassian to swoop into her room again.
A couple of minutes later, Y/N sat at her vanity, staring at herself in the mirror. Y/N looked like this: (hair colour, eyes and skin probably different)

Y/N was ready to head to Rita's.
- Azriel -
When he saw Y/N, he knew he would have to tell her tonight. She looked stunning in her gown, and the tiara and earrings matched it perfectly. Everything was right... Except when she turned, he could just see the edge of the large tattoo that marked her flesh. Told everyone who saw it what she was... What power she had.
Y/N had gone back into her room to fetch a bag, and he waited outside, ready to winnow her. She came outside and took his arm. His shadows strained under his control, begging him to get closer, yet he remained at a casual distance. He winnowed to Rita's, only to find Mor and Cassian already drunk. It was going to be a long night.

Y/N sat in a booth, taking a sip of the deep red wine in the glass chalice she was holding. Nesta was sitting in Cassian's lap, both of them drunk, Cassian looking excited for bed that night. Rhys and Feyre were dancing together, everyone in the bar staring at them. And Mor was talking to some random high fae.
Azriel was... Where was Azriel? Y/N sat up and adjusted her skirts to go outside for a breath of fresh air. Y/N leaned on the barrier, drinking in the cool, crisp night air. She smelt him just before she heard him. "Beautiful isn't it," Azriel whispered to me from the roof above my head. "Yeah, I've never seen anything like it!" Y/N replied. Then the barrier creaked. She peered down, only to find that the 'barrier' had fallen!
She tried to stumble back, but she tripped on her gown. Then her wings burst out the back of her dress, and she slowly flapped them and flew back up to the decking. Azriel was hovering midflight just next to the roof. "I was going to catch you..." He said awkwardly, "But you were already flying!" "It's alright, I'm fine now," Y/N said, and was about to fly back down when Azriel ran a hand down the edge of one of her feathers in curiosity.
Y/N shivered, and he quickly snatched his hand back. "Sorry! I-" I cut him off before he finished. "It's ok." "Really? My wings are really sensitive." "It's fine." He flew down and landed on the balcony. Y/N followed suit. Then Azriel moved towards her wings. "They're pretty unique." "Thanks, but Az, what is this?" Y/N passed a hand over her leg. "I don't know..." Azriel said.

Y/N turned to go back inside, but as she did, he spoke. "I'm sorry." "Why?" "I couldn't stop them- the shadows, I mean." "It's fine." "Really?" "Yes." Y/N then turned and went back inside without another word.
- Time skip -
Everyone gradually left Rita's, until just Azriel and Y/N were left. Y/N was still sitting in the booth, finishing off her third glass of wine. He was going to tell her. He walked over to the booth and slid in. "Y/N." "Yeah?" "I don't want to force you into anything, but, Y/N, I-" he couldn't do it. He would just say something else, he would- "What is it Az?" Y/N had never called him Az before.

This was the first time Y/N had seen Azriel speechless. "What is it Az?" she said softly. "I- I mean, I'm sorry Y/N, I'm-" SHe looked straight into his eyes. Then something snapped between them. "My mate." She said in a soft voice.
