As Thomas was chopping wood, Minho and another Scout came to find him. They were breathing heavily, and seemed ready to black out at any moment.
"The Hunters," Minho panted, "They're not gone. One of them- it got James,"
Thomas was thinking who's James? when another thought slapped him in the face.
"Well, where is he? Someone probably should've carried him back, right?" He said.
"No, Thomas, he's dead," Minho said grimly.
"How? The Hunters only cause pain," Thomas responded.
"Not if the pain-spike hits you in the head," the Scout said matter-of-factly.
"We studied a dead Hunter and found the pain-spikes, are, in fact, sharp enough to pierce a person's skull or ribcage. What this means is that they can kill you if you get shot in the head or chest. You were lucky. The pain-spike that hit you barely missed all of your vital organs," the Scout explained.
"Well then, I think some battle training is in order," Thomas replied.
