Thomas was half-ready. He thought about the first time he'd seen a Hunter. How he stood frozen while Brenda's siblings did all the work. But here he stood, on the brink of the camp, ready to fight.
"You ready?" Thomas whispered to Minho.
"Definitely not, but I have to act like I am," Minho responded. He turned and said to the Survivors, "Okay, listen up! The plan is: Group One leads in a charge against the Hunters. Group Two will follow and cover Group One with arrows. Group Two, try not shoot a Survivor from Group One. Group Three, you guys come in from behind the Hunters and annoy them, I guess. Be ready to spear one if bad comes to worse. Which it probably will," Minho yelled to the Survivors.
"Also, mind the pain-spikes, they kill if they hit you in the head or chest," added Isaac. And with that, they began the journey to the Creation Site.
About two hours later, the Survivors were in position.
"Ready," Minho whispered.
"Set," Ian continued.
"GO!" Gina yelled. Group One charged and started to skewer several Hunters. It didn't take long for the Hunters to react, but when they did, they got a face full of arrows from Group Two. The Hunters reacted to that too, and Survivors started dropping like flies. As Thomas speared a Hunter, he saw a Survivor get hit with a pain-spike in the arm.
"There are too many Hunters!" Someone screamed to Minho. They were abrubtly cut off. Thomas didn't want to know what the heck happened over where the voice came from. But the Suvivors finally seemed to get the hang of fighting them, so Minho and Thomas called in Group Three. One Group Three member yelled to a Hunter, "Yo, rust bucket!" then stabbed it in the face.
"Everything seems to be going okay!" Olivia yelled to Ian.
"Well, yeah, if you don't count the deaths of a fair number of Survivors!" Ian yelled back.
"This is true," said Olivia.
As well as concentrating on his Hunter, Thomas concentrated on the rest of the Survivors. Gina was struggling just a little, but had still killed several Hunters. Minho was doing fine, but Thomas expected that. Aaron, Evan, and Alex were all fending off mulitple at the same time.
"They really like you guys, huh?" Thomas screamed to Evan, Aaron, and Alex.
"Yeah, I guess," Aaron yelled back.
It was a struggle, but finally the battle was won. By the Survivors, of course.
"What should we call the graveyard?" Minho wondered out loud.
"I dunno, the Dead Heads?" Thomas responded. Minho punched him in the arm. Lightly.
"Well, THAT's original. No wonder WICKED named you after Edison," Minho remarked.
"I know, right?" Thomas responded. He didn't know if anyone else noticed, but he thought the dinner was especially good that night.
