"Aunt Jenna?!"
Jenna turns around and stares at me in horror. "Elena! Uh, this isn't what it looks like!"
This can't be happening. Oh god, my aunt is sleeping with my teacher. Of all guys, it just had to be him.
"Not what it looks like? So I didn't just walk in on you with your tongue down my history teachers throat"' I say in a sarcastic tone.
Okay I'm done here. Someone please take me back to Chicago!
Jenna bites her bodem lip, clearly at a loss of what to say. She leans over the desk and grabs a shirt, then throws it over to Mr. Saltzman. He puts it on, his eyes not leaving the grey tiles of his classroom. "So here's your schedule. I hope you like this school, now please get out and don't mention this to anyone." He hands me my schedule and walks back to his desk. Jenna is still standing there awkwardly as I leave the room.

My eyes are fixed on the ground as I walk to my first class. Chemistry.                I sigh, this is probably the most awkward first day ever. I'm not paying attention to where I'm going and all of a sudden I walk straight into someone. "Omg, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention," I stammer, then look up to see a familiar face. Caroline bends down and picks up the books she dropped. "It's fine! No big deal! No one died! I have biology so I'll see you later."
I give her an apologetic smile then continue walking to class.
I'm the last person to arrive so there's only one seat left.
The teacher has us partner up for the experiment. I end up working with a guy named Jake. He seems nice but he has no idea what he's doing and is clearly failing chemistry. So naturally, I have to do everything. Not that I mind. I'm actually really good at chemistry.

I sit on the bench in front of the school, waiting for my mom to pick me up. The sun is shining which is nice. I might go for a walk around the block, explore the neighbourhood a bit.
I have history tomorrow which is going to be very weird.
"Hey Elena! I want to introduce you to someone!" I turn around to see Caroline walking towards me. How can she be so happy all the time? Beside her is a tall, handsome guy. "This is my friend Klaus," she says in a way to cheery voice. I see Klaus wince a bit at the word 'friend'. "Well I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow." She grabs her bag and walks to her bicycle.
"Does she know how you feel about her," I ask Klaus. "How I feel? Excuse me, what are you implying?" His voice is steady but I can see the panic on his face.
"Oh, so you're going to tell me that you're not in love with her?" I've known him for two seconds and it's already so obvious. "Fine, yes, I do have feelings for her but she's dating my best friend," he says with a rather guilty look. I give him an accusing look. It's so clear to me that feelings is an uderstatement. He sighs. "I've been in love with her since fifth grade, but it still hurts to be just friends."

Dear diary,
It's been quite the day. I met this girl, Caroline, she seems really sweet. She let me have lunch with her and the rest of the popular kids. They were surprisingly kind and welcoming.
I also met this guy named Klaus. Turns out he's been in love with Caroline since fifth grade! Apparently she doesn't know about his feelings for her. Or she just doesn't care, though I doubt that. I've only known her for a day but I can tell she's not the type to not care about other people's feelings.

I also walked in on Jenna making out with my teacher. Granted he's pretty good looking. But the idea of my aunt sleeping with Mr Saltzman makes me want to puke.
Well, maybe Jenna can get him to give me A's for history, cuz it's my least favourite subject.
I guess today could've been worse. I still want to go back home though.

Elena Gilbert

Hi thank you for reading!
I have exams soon so I won't be able to write much.
I hope I'm able to finish chapter 5 before Christmas but I'm not going to make any promises.
