nesaemys looked down sheepishly. rhaenyra had made plans to feast for the upcoming battle for the throne, but nesaemys found herself unable to stomach anything.
however, she would attend the feast - not for rhaenyra, but for her friends.
she had found the velaryon boy, jacaerys, to be quite good company, as well as corlys and rhaenys. she was rather fond of her uncle, daemon, though not so much as rhaenyra, and enjoyed teasing him over rhea royce.

meleys had finally gotten used to silverwing, which enabled rhaenys and nesaemys to fly together, and on occasion, corlys accompanied them.
rarely, caraxes and daemon would follow close behind.

when the trio was alone, casually lounging on driftmark as they so often done, nesaemys would call rhaenys, "the queen who should have been."
corlys had snorted and rhaenys turned a bright shade of pink.
"wouldn't that solve all of the realms problems, hm?"
she had joked, resulting in a gentle shove from the sea snake.
rhaenys was glad he had gotten adjusted so quickly to nesa, doubtless he didn't believe he could, and often found himself gazing hatefully - it wasn't that he misliked her, he treated nesaemys like he had marilda, he misliked her brothers.

he also was wary of the young princess.
corlys saw the way she glanced from addam and alyn to him.
though rhaenys may have believed otherwise, they were corlys' bastards, not laenors.

corlys, as all mariners did, enjoyed ale.
one night, when the blacks were dining, corlys had snaked an arm around nesaemys' side, which caused her to clam up, grow tense and embarrassed. she had never been touched by another man, with intimacy, save aemond.
rhaenys stole a glance at nesaemys and noticed corlys' romantic gesture, but nesa's shocked, or terrified, face, proved to rhaenys that her husband was just drunk.

nesaemys grew tired one night, as her young, pregnant body so often required rest, and rhaenys did not wish for her to fly, so the two had managed to spare chambers for nesaemys.
she would find the soft lulling of the sea and the warm embraces of her closest friends much more welcoming than the crashing waters on dragonstone, where people stole glares full of vengeful promises.
maybe i'll stay here.

was her final thought, before she drifted off in the comfort of the featherbed, moonlight masking the room in an ethereal blanket.
