daemon watched with heavy eyes.
his cousin, rhaenys, was dead.
corlys took in a shaky breath, glancing away from the burnt corpse.
rhaenyra wiped her eyes with the palm of one hand, tightly entangling her fingers with daemon's with the other.
corlys had an arm around nesaemys shoulder.
nesaemys, who wasn't paying attention to the corpse.
she was afraid to look.
it was her fault rhaenys was dead, she had heard of her brothers plans, and she hadn't cared enough to help.
corlys, however, couldn't look away.
the world spun, and he felt as though he would collapse.
the sea-lord unblinkingly made eye contact with rhaenyra.
"this..."
he gestured to his now dead wife with a shaky hand.
"this is your fault!"
rhaenyra flinched as though she had been slapped, and nesa recoiled.
daemon wrapped his free hand around the hilt of dark sister.
corlys inhaled, looking to nesaemys, before spitting onto the mournfully dark grass on dragonstone.
rhaenyra shifted as the mariner stomped away, nesaemys on his heels.
"it's not your fault."
daemon reassured her, pulling rhaenyra away from her namesake.corlys was inconsolable.
nesaemys watched helplessly as corlys shook, tears welling in his sea-blue eyes.
what would he do without rhaenys?
laenor was gone.
laena was gone.
and now rhaenys was gone.
who did he have left?
nesaemys had made the decision to find a maester to give him dream-wine, to help him sleep.
she noticed his eyes grow heavier each time he mumbled something, and at some point he shut his eyes completely, which compelled nesa to slide off of his featherbed and briskly pad to the door.
she stopped, halfway through the door, to his shaky voice.
"please stay,"
corlys pleaded,
"that's all i ask of you."
nesaemys hesitated, before nodding briefly and slipping back into his chambers.
corlys pulled his furs up to his bare shoulders, blinking rapidly,
before he stretched out onto his shoulder.
nesaemys stepped towards his bed, then glanced at him to see if she could sit beside him.
he nodded quickly, not sparing her so much as a glance.
he hated feeling so.... helpless.
she climbed onto the bed, positioning herself to where she could gently pet his hair.
corlys looked up, eyes landing on her scars.
he, in turn, tenderly placed a free hand on her cheek, turning her face to admire the rough, pink flesh.
he muttered something, and nesaemys thought he had said,
'you're beautiful,' but she couldn't be sure, and if he had, he was delirious and heavy in grief.
she chose to ignore it, grasping his hand and lowering it.
"sleep."
she whispered to him, continuing to caress his silvery blonde locks.daemon had, unironically, never been a man to respect privacy.
he had reached driftmark, caraxes sparing no more than a small screech and a snap at silverwing, who was lingering on the side of driftmark, closest to dragonstone.
he shoved himself through the crowd of guards in the hall, stopping at the door.
corlys was hurting.
daemon was, too.
rhaenys was a close friend.
but corlys was like a brother to him, and rhaenys was dead.
he pushed open the door, glancing around the lord of the tides' chambers.
when his eyes reached the bed, he was slightly taken aback.
corlys, who stood nearly two heads taller than nesa, was curled around her, a free arm holding her closer to him.
nesaemys didn't seem to mind. she was asleep, corlys' rheumy breathing masked in her thick, silver hair.
daemon cocked an eyebrow, before backing out of the room.
when he reached caraxes, he couldn't help but giggle slightly, as mournful as the times were.daemon walking into corlys room:
an.
i hav big plans for the otp 🥺
this seems a bit rushed. but. it was
