I waited in the dark room for David and Sonja to come back, while the guard watched me creepily.
"So, you're infected now huh?"
I ignored him, not even batting an eye. I thought about what might be happening to Drake or Amber. Sonja burst into the room with David following behind her.
"This, said she was infected " as she pointed toward me.
"Well, she would've turned by now, but have someone check her for bite marks or scratches, we don't want any infected around here.
David pulled Sonja and the guard out of the room momentarily. I heard faint talking behind the ruined door. I waited in silence for them to enter again.

The sunlight in the room started to die as time passed. I started to hear the doorknob turn as a woman dressed in a long sleeve shirt and jeans walked in. She had short black hair and wore a surgical mask over her mouth and nose.
"So, I just need to look to see if your bit or scratched anywhere." She turned to untie my hands and then grabbed my arm and started looking for bites or scratches.
"I'm not seeing anything, where were you bit?" She asked.
"I'm not infected" I mumbled to her.
"Not surprised, a lot of people say that these days." She then took of her mask and turned away.
"When can I get out of here?" I asked
"Well, I don't really have answer for you. You see, David is in charge here we just sorta listen to him."
"Oh" I said hopelessly. "What about my friends, he didn't do anything to them did he?"
She sighed "listen, you're friends are fine, David just want to find out where you came from, who you've killed, us know, the 'normal' stuff."
"Fine, I'll talk...just let us leave."
"I can't do that, that's up to David I'm just his 'helper' I guess you could say."

David had came in with that woman from before and Sonja. David asked me who I've killed and why, and how I ended up together with my group.
"Why, did you kill them?" He questioned me with a face full of curiosity.
"They were trying to kill us, self defense." I said blankly.
"Well, then, we don't need to keep you hostage anymore." he said with a grim smile. "Before you leave though, we would want you to stay with us, we have the space for you here."
"What about before, you almost killed us. You were the one who fired first."
They led me out of the dilapidated building and took me to Amber. I ran to her and hugged her.
"What did they do to you?" She asked.
"Nothing, they just talked to me. Did they hurt you?" I asked her.
"Nothing, but they asked about our group, and where we came from."
I saw Drake in the distance, as I walked away from Amber.
"Amber! He's over there!" I yelled to her.
We both ran toward him, as he ran toward us. Amber yelled to him as we ran.
"We have to leave here now!" I heard him yelling as he ran toward us.
He was beaten and bruised and his faces has scratches on it.
"What...did they do to you?" I asked as I looked at him shakily.
"They had to beat it out of me, lets just go."
We approached David and the rest of his people, as they stood watching us run to each other.
"Give us our stuff and we'll leave now." Drake demanded.
"Well, I was hoping before I gave you your things, I wanted to talk to all of you now, like civilized people."
I looked at Drake for an answer. I could see it in his face that he couldn't trust these people either, but we needed our things. We were weak, hurt and outnumbered to do anything to them.
"Fine" he told him.
David nodded at us. "Lets go talk then as he motioned us to follow."
Their camp was rather large and tucked away in the forest. Many people, women, children and men were working. Many tents surrounded a campfire and a few buildings lay off in the distance.
"This place, it's almost like a safe haven." I said in awe as I continued to look around.
"Yep, haven't had any infected in a while here."
We walked to a more secluded part of the camp and sat down on some rickety chairs they had set out.
"I never caught any of your names."
"Drake."
"Amber" she said as she did a slight wave to them.
"Emily." I told them scornfully.
"Listen we want to put aside about what happened earlier, we wanted to ask if you wanted to stay here we are willing to take in more survivors. The more we have the stronger we are."
I sat there in disbelief, these people wanted us to stay here?
"Why would we ever want to stay here with you, your people almost killed us." I snapped at him.
"We don't mean any harm, just we want to help you is all."
"We'll stay." Drake announced to them.
"Well then, we'll get you all a place to sleep. Louise here will help you out a bit."
He pointed to the short haired woman from before.
They led us all to our tents.
"You girls can sleep here, should be enough room for the both of you." she said.
"And for you" she said pointing to Drake. "This one should be alright, and dinner is gonna be served in a little while so when your ready just come out and eat." Louise then left us at our tents.
"Drake can I talk to you?" I whispered to him aggressively.
"What were you thinking!" I yelled at him.
"These people tried to kill us, and you probably just led us into some trap, we'd be lucky if we weren't dead by tomorrow."
"Emily, just give it a chance once we get our stuff we'll stay for a while, and if anything happens we'll leave. Okay?"
I turned around and headed to my tent, I wanted to prepare for anything.
