I let go of Chat, the nerves settling down. His focus had moved from my phone, and he was now focusing on me. Nervous, I relaxed my muscles and tried to act more calm and brave.
"Marinette-" I calmed myself down enough to notice the shakiness in his breath and how unsturdy his normally tall structure was.
"It's just a little argument, no biggie." I used up all of my muscle power to force a casual shrug.
"Marinette, it's not. This isn't ok, Lila needs to be stoppe-" I didn't notice the concern on his face as I cut him off.
"Lila will just get more upset, Chat. She'll lie and lie and there is no proof of anything she's done." I started to get caught up in my thoughts as I babbled.
"Marinette" I ignored the hand that he reached out as I backed up. He needed to understand that this was my fight. I didn't want him to get involved if we were going to lose anyway.
"She's already fooled so many people to believe her. I'll just give up anyways, fighting will just add more onto my stress, it's not that import-"

His face was so close to mine, illuminated only by the stars and the lights of Paris. I had not invited this sensation of fireworks that sent tingles down my spine like a wave of heat. But it sure invited me, and I accepted. Who knew a boy's lips could be so soft? I lifted up my hand in natural protest but instead of pushing him away when I touched his shoulder, my hand grasped his shoulder.
And I kissed back.
