"n-nothing..."
Brisk air filled the night sky and sparkling lights filled the ground below and around us. I slowly turned around, keeping one hand on the railing of my balcony, the other rested on my side.
I pressed the power button on my phone, casually turning it off so he couldn't see. I faked a smile and rubbed my hand behind my neck. He took a step back, probably to examine my well being.
"When did you get here, Chat?" I made eye contact with him this time, feeling a bit stronger at hiding my emotions. Normally, I'd avoid his deep gaze.
I'm happy. I'm happy. Only happy. Nothing's wrong. You're interested in what chat is doing. I'm happy and well. Happy.
I chanted to myself in my head in order to forget about my problem.
He sighed and walked up next to me, keeping his eyes on the lights of Paris. He chuckled and I looked at him, confused.
"Princess, how do you do it?" He continued to avoid my gaze.
"...do what?" I gave up on trying to make eye contact and I looked up at the stars that shone as bright as the city lights.
"Keep going. You're fighting so much pain, anger, and sorrow...and, not to be rude or anything, but you're still...here." I noticed how his long blonde hair swayed perfectly with the chilled breeze and how his eyes always looked like he was concentrating on someone or something.
I sighed, tired and over with trying to pretend. It wouldn't hurt to open up...a little bit.
"...I- I don't...know...I guess it's because there are certain things in life that...I don't want to miss out on, things I want to do." I smiled and looked at my small feet.
I had forgotten about my phone and loosened my grip. The exact second I did, Chat grabbed the phone from my hand. He saw my background but ignored it at first. It used facial recognition now, so he easily got it unlocked before I could do anything about it.
"C-chat! Give that back! That's none of your buisn-" He placed his finger on my lips, shushing me. I huffed and tried to reach for the phone, but he was standing up on the metal bars now, out of reach.
Forgetting I was no longer in my ladybug suit, I hopped onto the top of the railing as well and balanced my feet out quickly. My instincts told me to walk on it as if it were a tightrope. He immediately looked at me with shock and I cocked my head, confused at his surprise. He still kept the phone out of reach.
"M-mlady!! You could fall!!" He said with a gasped voice. I almost laughed.
"What do you mean? You never say such things when we're on patrol, kitty." I reached for my yo-yo so I could take the phone, only to find it wasn't there. I was still in my pajamas. I gasped in shock and feeling unconfident, my foot slipped. I screamed and closed my eyes only to find out that the man standing before me had caught my hand just in time. Dangling from my balcony, I threw my other hand up to his arm and held on tightly, scared. He pulled me up with ease and looked at me, concerned. I fell into his embrace and didn't dare move for at least 10 minutes.
