The one with the dinner

Dylan's pov

I sat with rose on my lap for almost an hour as she watched her cartoons. It was now 4:40pm. Rose has fallen asleep playing with my hair. She was now sitting on my lap, facing towards me. Her arms were wrapped around my stomach and her cheek against my chest. I had pulled the blanket on top of us, covering emma, rose, and I with the blanket starting at their shoulders and falling to the floor. I stroked her hair, smoothing it. I glanced to my right to see emma had fallen asleep against my shoulder. My eyelids felt heavy too since emma and I didn't really sleep last night. I yawned before gently shaking emma awake.

"Dyll?" Emma's eyes were still closed as she snuggled closer to me.

"Right here babe." I mumbled before kissing her cheek. "We gotta get ready."

She opened her eyes, nodding slowly. "What time is it?" She yawned.

"Almost 5."

She nodded before giving me guilty smile. "Can you do me a favor?" She whispered, setting a hand on my neck.

I nodded.

"Can you get rose dressed?" She smiled softly at me.

My smile dropped. "Getting rose ready is hell." I complained in a soft voice, not wanting to wake my daughter from her nap.

Getting rose ready was probably harder than anything in the world. She was very picky about her clothes, how she made her hair, her shoes, what stuffed animal she brought with her. Rose had a stuffed unicorn elwin had given her when she was a baby. She wouldn't go anywhere without it. She wouldn't even walk around our house without it. It was actually laying on the couch a few feet down from us right now. She had brought her unicorn, Glittershine as she had named it, to watch cartoons with us. Emma and I always had a playful argument over who had to deal with rose and get her ready. We used to take turns but that didn't work out.

Now I looked into Emma's tired eyes, her face hopeful that I'll agree to her favor.

"Please baby?" She whispered, kissing my shoulder.

"Fine." I sighed. "But you owe me." I grinned at her.

"In any way you'd like." She smiled at me.

I leant down and kissed her softly. She kissed back, eager to taste my mouth against hers. We pulled away, eyes closed with our foreheads leaning against each other's.

"That's a little preview." I mumbled with a smile, my eyes opening to look into hers.

"I liked that preview... care to give me another one after we're ready?" She smiled at me.

"Certainly." I chuckled as we pulled away. I stood up from the couch with rose still fast asleep in my arms. I had my arm under her butt and a hand on her back. Her cheek was pressed against my shoulder.

I shook her gently. "Rose... baby?" I asked softly, shaking her awake.

She opened her eyes and glared at me sleepily. "Stop it daddy." She whined, closing her eyes again.

I smiled as I ran my fingers over her forehead and cheek, sweeping her silky dark brown hair off her of face

"We have to get ready." I told her softly as emma stood up and rubbed rose's back gently.

"I don't wanna go anyweow." She fussed, frowning with her eyes closed and her eyebrows scrunched annoyedly.

"We're going to Cole's house." Emma whispered in rose's ear from behind with a soft smile, still rubbing her back from under her shirt.
