Haley
Drew has not called for almost a whole week. I do not want to call him because I have no idea what to tell him and I am scared I might spill the beans before Ashley does. I need to avoid talking to him until Ashley speaks to him first.
"Have you told him yet?" I ask Ashley before I leave for school on Friday morning.
We are in the kitchen and she stops wiping the kitchen counter to face me. "I haven't figured out how to tell him. I don't want him to hurt him."
"I don't know how long I can keep it a secret," I tell her honestly. Besides, I hate keeping things from him.
"I will definitely tell him by the end of this week."
"Okay, thanks." I grab my school bag, stand up and leave.
When I arrive at school, I find Amy and Jenny at our usual spot. "Hey."
"What's up, girl? You look stressed." Cannot hide anything from Jenny.
"Yeah, Ashley still hasn't told Drew about the engagement."
"Are you going to tell him?" Amy asks between bites of her banana.
"I'm avoiding him and he hasn't called me anyway."
"This is causing you too much stress. You should tell him."
"I promised Ashley I wouldn't. He doesn't even know they were seeing each other." This is messed up. I still cannot believe they would sneak behind our backs and now dropping this bomb on us. They had months to tell us they were dating. This is too much all at once. I am afraid Drew might explode when he finds out. He still does not fully trust my father.
"I still believe you should tell him," Amy insists.
Jenny agrees with her.
I am so confused. What should I do?

The day went by in a flash. When I arrived home, my father stops me half way up the stairs.
"How was your day?" he asks, looking unsure.
"Fine. You didn't go to work today?" I am surprised to find him here at this time of the day.
"I took the day off."
Why would he do that? Did he get fired? "How come?" I descend the stairs to move closer to him.
"Ashley and I spent the day looking for a wedding planner." He pauses. "Can we talk?"
"We are talking already," I deadpan.
"Can we sit on the couch to continue this conversation?" He directs his hand towards the living room.
I nod and we both take a seat on the couch.
"How do really feel about Ashley and I getting married?"
I am not sure how I feel. I am still coming to terms with the idea of them getting married. I am not angry. I just do not want their marriage to affect my relationship with Drew. "It's you life. If you want to get married, then I'm happy for the two of you. I just do not know how this will affect Drew and I."
"It does not have to affect you. You are not related by blood."
"I know but still. What if Drew sees me differently?" I do not want anything to change between us.
"He will not." He does not even know him. How could he say that? He is just trying to assure me. "That boy loves you. So much. I saw it in his eyes the first time I met him."
I look away, not knowing what else to say.
"Can you do us a favor?"
I face him again. "What is it?"
"Will you be Ashley's bridesmaid?"
What? I have always wanted to be a bridesmaid and walk down the aisle wearing a pretty dress. "Of course." I try not to sound too excited. "Did you find a wedding planner?"
His face lights up. "Yes, we did. I cannot wait for you to meet him."
