Chapter 2

Ethan was completely sucked into his phone. Is this how I die? he thought to himself as he kept falling in a weird dimension. He felt that he was falling forever. He then blacked out...

When he opened his eyes, he was in a dark place filled with emptiness. Where am I? It's really dark, and cold. "Hello! Is anyone here?" he yelled hoping for a response. Suddenly, there was a bright light at the edge of the darkness. Ethan quickly ran towards the light. When he reached it, the whole place lit up and he suddenly woke up. He slowly opened his eyes and tried to get up but his body felt really heavy.

Ethan: "What's going on? I can hardly move my body." he said as he checked his surroundings.

He looked around and saw the ocean. He then noticed a huge facility near the beach.

Ethan: "Where am I? What is this place?"

He then remembered what happened to him.

My phone malfunctioned and zapped me! But what was I doing before that? he thought. I was playing Azur Lane! So wait, that means...

Ethan: "Did I just get isekaied?! No way..." he yelled in shock.

???: "Uhh, excuse me, but who are you?" a voiced asked.

Ethan turned around and saw a woman standing at the back of him.

Ethan: "Uhh, hi. My name's Ethan. Uh miss, can I ask you a question?"

???: "Sure."

Ethan: "Where am I?"

???: "You're at the Azur Lane base. Wait, you're not from here are you?"

Ethan: "No, I'm not."

???: "I see. Alright then. Follow me."

The woman then headed towards the facility. Ethan followed her. When they reached it, they went into a building in the middle of the facility. The woman then stopped in front of a door.

???: "Talk to the person inside. He'll tell you what to do."

Ethan: "OK. Thank you for all your help."

The woman gave him a nod and then left. Ethan then knocked on the door and heard a voice telling him to come in. He then entered opened the door and saw a man in his late 50's wearing a white uniform and a commander's hat.

???: "Hello there Ethan. I'm the Admiral. It's nice to meet you.

Ethan was shocked when the Admiral mentioned his name.

Admiral: "If you're wondering how I know your name, it was mentioned to me when you first arrived here."

Ethan was really confused. How does he know my name? What's going on here? he thought.

Admiral: "I'm sure you're really confused right now, so let me explain."

The Admiral then explained to Ethan about the situation.

Admiral: "Recently, we've been getting reports around the world about people suddenly appearing out of nowhere with no idea what happened to them. All they remembered was playing a game and suddenly waking up here. We have been researching for the cause of these incidents and we suspect that it was caused by a mirror sea."

Ethan: "OK."

Admiral: "We would like to help them get back to their real world, but we are facing our own problems here. The Sirens. They are a group of extraterrestrial beings that want to take over the Earth. We are short-handed on commanders to battle the Sirens. We tried asking the people brought here for help, but only some of them are qualified to be commanders. So, I'd like to offer you something, but first, I must ask you a question."

Ethan: "What is it?"

Admiral: "What do you think of the shipgirls?"

Ethan: "Eh? Well, I uhh..."

Admiral: "Sorry if that sounded weird, but I know you have knowledge of shipgirls. So?"

Ethan fell silent for a moment.

Ethan: "Well, I think that they are more than just weapons of destruction. They are living beings too. With hearts, minds, and emotions. I hate it if people treat them like they're things they own."

Admiral: "I see..."

They both fell silent for a moment.

Admiral: "Ethan, I'd like you to become a commander of your own fleet. With that kind of mindset, I'm sure you'd make a great commander. So, what do you say?"

Ethan: "Of course. It would be an honor."

Admiral: "OK then. You'll start your training tomorrow. For now, get some rest. Your room is already set up."

Ethan: "Yes sir."

Ethan was then taken to his room. After taking a bath, he layed down on his new bed thinking of what's to come in the future.

Ethan: "Maybe I'll finally get to meet the right one here..." he mumbled as he stared at the ceiling.

After that, he got off his bed and read the papers given to him for his first day at the academy.

Ethan: "It starts at 06:00 am?! I'd better get some rest."

He then turned off the lights and went to sleep.
