Chapter 8

After the incident, Ethan was quickly brought to a hospital to treat his wounds. Because he lost so much of his blood, he's in a critical state. Not only that, there were bullets in his vital organs, so he had to be operated. While he was being operated, Enterprise waited for him outside of the operation room.

(Enterprises POV)

This is all my fault! If I hadn't been captured, Ethan wouldn't be in this situation... she thought to herself. Then, she heard someone calling out to her. She then saw both of her sisters running towards her.

Hornet and Yorktown: "Enterprise!"

Enterprise: "Yorktown... Hornet..."

Yorktown: "Thank goodness your alright! We were so worried about you." she said as tears formed in her eyes.

Hornet: "Are you hurt, sister? Where is the commander?"

When she heard that, she started to cry.

Enterprise: "He *sniff* he's hurt and it's all my fault!"

Yorktown: "Hey hey, it's not your fault. It's the other people that did this to you and commander. It's their fault."

Enterprise: "B-but-"

Hornet: "What Yorktown said was true. None of this is your fault, so don't blame yourself for it."

After Enterprise calmed down, the doctors came out of the operating room.

Enterprise: "Doctor, how is Ethan?"

Doctor: "He's stable for now. He will soon be moved to another room to rest."

Enterprise: "Thank goodness..."

Doctor: "But, since he lost a lot of his blood, he still isn't conscious yet."

Enterprise: "I see... Thank you, doctor."

The doctor then went to take care of another patient leaving the three.

(Ethan's POV)

It's dark... Where am I? he thought to himself. As he wandered in the darkness, Ethan then saw a strange light in front of him. He walked towards it and saw that it was a black cube of some sort. What's this? Why is it here? Ethan then reached out his hand to touch the cube. Suddenly, the cube began to glow a dark color. Then, it projected something in front of Ethan. Ethan was then shocked to see what it was. He saw Enterprise but she wasn't like the Enterprise Ethan knew. She was wearing a rugged attire, her hair was cut to shoulder length and the look in her eyes was a look of wanting to kill. What is this? Why am I seeing this? Ethan thought to himself. Suddenly, the cube began emitting a blinding light as it flew into the sky. Then, it exploded and Ethan fainted.

Ethan then started to wake up. As he opened his eyes, he saw Enterprise sleeping on the couch. He then tried to get up but he felt an immense pain from his body. Enterprise then woke up and saw Ethan trying to get up.

Enterprise: "Ethan!" she said as she quickly went to his side.

Ethan: "Hey Enterpri- ah"

Enterprise: "Take it easy. Don't try to get up."

Ethan: "Yeah, I guess your right."

Suddenly, Enterprise hugged Ethan.

Ethan: "Uhh, Enterpri-"

Enterprise: "I was so worried about you. I thought would never wake up again!" she said as she began to cry.

Ethan then reached out his hand to wipe away her tears.

Ethan: "It's OK. All that matters is that you're safe. That's all that matters to me."

Enterprise: "Ethan..."

The two then hugged each other again.
Soon after that, the doctor came into the room.

Doctor: "Good morning Ethan. How are you feeling?"

Ethan: "Just some minor pain in my stomach."

Doctor: "I see. Well, I'm going to need you to stay here for a few days so that you can fully heal."

Ethan: "Yes doctor."

Doctor: "If you ever feel that your pain is increasing, quickly tell me."

Ethan: "Yes doctor. I will."

Doctor: "Alright then. If there are no questions, I'm going to take my leave."

Ethan: "OK. Thank you, doctor."

In the next few days, Ethan was visited by many of his shipgirls and friends. Time went by and after about 4 days in the hospital, Ethan was allowed to leave the hospital.

After leaving the hospital, the two decided to stop at a restaurant since they weren't able to do so last week. After getting a table, they were handed the menu.

Ethan: "So Enterprise, what do you want?"

Enterprise: "I'll just have whatever you're having."

Ethan: "OK then. I'll order the steak. Sounds good?"

Enterprise: "Yeah."

After ordering the food, the two began having a conversation.

Enterprise: "Ethan, how are you feeling?"

Ethan: "I feel great. The pain in my stomach is almost gone and I get to spend time with you again."

Hearing this, Enterprise began to blush a little.

Ethan: "Hey, Enterprise?"

Enterprise: "Y-yes?"

Ethan: "Thank you for staying by my side the whole time I was sick. It really means a lot."

Enterprise: "Of course. It's my job to take care of you. I am your secretary after all." she said with a smile.

After finishing their meal, they went back to the base. When they got there, they were greeted by Edward.

Edward: "Hey Ethan. How are you feeling?"

Ethan: "Pretty good."

Edward: "Alright then. Will you be working tomorrow?"

Edward: "Yeah, I will."

Edward: "Alright then. See you tomorrow then."

Ethan: "Yeah, see you."

Edward then went back to his office while Ethan and Enterprise went to their rooms. After arriving in his room, Ethan changed his clothes and layed on his bed. He then remembered the dream he had before waking up. What was that dream about? What happened to Enterprise? I have to make sure that doesn't happen... he thought as he went to sleep.
