Chapter 5

It's been 6 weeks since Ethan and Edward arrived at the base. The two are starting to get used to their new life here. The base was getting livelier with every new shipgirl and staff joining. Ethan and Edward had already gained the respect of their subordinates, especially Ethan. Everyone liked him, especially the shipgirls.

One day, Ethan sent Enterprise and a few other ships to run a commission. On the way home, Enterprise was bombarded with questions from the other girls.

(Enterprise's POV)

Enterprise: "Why are all of you asking questions about the commander?"

Prinz Eugen: "Well, its because you're his secretary. You know more about him than us." said the Iron blood ship.

Cleveland: "Yeah. You're the one who's with him the most so, of course, we would as you. So, what is he like?"

Enterprise: "Well, I think that he's a really nice person and a good commander."

Cleveland: "I see... Still, I think that you're really lucky to be his secretary."

Enterprise: "You think so?"

Cleveland: "Yeah."

They continued their conversation until they reached the port.

When they arrived at the port, they were greeted by Ethan.

Ethan: "Hey girls. How was the mission?"

Enterprise: "It's completed commander. I'll debrief the mission in the office."

Eugen then suddenly grabbed Ethan's arm.

Eugen: "Commander~ Are you free after this?"

Ethan: "Sorry Eugen. I have a meeting to attend."

Eugen: "Aww. I was hoping we could have some fun."

Suddenly someone pulled Eugen away from Ethan.

Admiral Hipper: "Jeez, you're always like this."

Eugen: "Oh, someone's jealous I see."

Hipper's face then turned red hearing her sisters remark.

Hipper: "What are you talking about?! Why would I be jealous of you hugging that idiot!"

Ethan: "Now now. Let's not get carried away." Ethan said trying to calm her down.

Meanwhile, the others laughed at the situation, but Enterprise had an uneasy expression on her face.

(Enterprise's POV)

Why do I feel uneasy when the commander was hugged by Eugen? I was alright with it a few weeks ago, but why do I feel a little agitated now? Enterprise thought to herself.

Cleveland: "Enterprise? Hey Enterprise!"

Enterprise: "Huh,w-what's wrong?"

Cleveland: "Were you spacing out? I called you but you didn't answer."

Enterprise: "Uhh, y-yeah, sorry about that."

Cleveland: "It's fine, but are you sure your alright?"

Enterprise: "Yeah, I'm fine."

After that, Ethan went to the meeting and the girls took a break, except for Enterprise. She had to file in the report of the mission.

Sometime later...

After she finished the report, Enterprise went back to her room. When she got there, she layed down on her bed. As she layed on her bed, her mind went back to what happened today.

Why am I feeling this way? What's happening to me? she thought to herself.

Suddenly she heard a knock on the door. She got up and opened it and was shocked to see who it was.

Enterprise: "Commander!"

Ethan: "Hey Enterprise. Are you alright? When I went back to the office, you weren't there."

Enterprise: "U-uhh, yeah. I'm fine."

They both fell silent for a moment

Ethan: "Uhh Enterprise, do you have any plans for tonight?"

Enterprise: "Not really."

Ethan: "Well, do you want to grab dinner?" he said while scratching his head.

Enterprise: "Sure. I'm starting to get hungry too."

Ethan: "OK then."

The two then went out to have dinner. On their way to the restaurant, Enterprise and Ethan talked about what happened today.

Enterprise: "So what did you discuss in the meeting?"

Ethan: "The higher-ups said that they were impressed with my work and decided to give us higher-ranked missions."

Enterprise: "That's great!"

Ethan: "Yeah, but that means more work to do."

Enterprise: "Don't worry about that. I'll help you through it all." she said with a smile.

Seeing this, Ethan blushed a little. They then reached the restaurant, but when they were about to order a table, they were told that the restaurant was full.

Enterprise: "What should we do now?"

Ethan: "Let's just search for another restaurant."

But every restaurant they went to was full. They decided to take a break near a coffee shop.

Ethan: "Here." he said while handing Enterprise a cup of coffee.

Enterprise: "Thanks."

Ethan: "Hey Enterprise, sorry for today. I didn't know that all the restaurants were full."

Enterprise: "It's alright. I had fun today."

Ethan: "You did?"

Enterprise: "Yeah, because I got to spend time with you."

Ethan: "Well if you're happy, then I'm too."

After finishing their drinks, Ethan accompanied Enterprise back to her room.

Enterprise: "Thanks for today Ethan. I had fun spending time with you."

Ethan: "Me too. Anyways, good night."

Ethan then went back to his room. In her room, Enterprise was laying on her bed blushing.

(Enterprise's POV)

Why is my heart beating so fast? Is it because I have feelings for him? Maybe... she thought to herself as she fell asleep.
