~Almost a full week later~
Lance's POV

"What the hell is this?!" I ask aloud, looking at the sheet music for the bands newest single.

"Oh no." Pidge says, "Let's get outta here before they start yelling again." Pidge, Hunk, and Shiro scurry out of the practice apartment quickly, leaving only me and Keith alone.

His eye is better than it was, but it sure doesn't look like it. He's all bruised up, and he looks like he was in some gang rumble.

"What the hell is this?" I ask again, ignoring how he adorable he looks when he holds his cup of tea so daintily.

"The new music" Keith shrugs.
"You clearly have no idea how drums work"
"I do so!!"
"No you don't! I can't play this shit!"
"You're not good enough?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
"It's not a matter of skill Keith! In order to play this I'd need three arms and four legs!"
"Ugh, don't be dramatic! You did classes for drums not acting remember?!"

I'm surprised he remembered that. I told Hunk, my best friend, once. And I told him about the classes a week ago when he was all concussed and shit. I didn't even know Keith was paying attention.

"I didn't go to the Neil Pert School of It Ain't Ever Gonna Freakin' Happen!" (AN- if you get this reference you're awesome!!)
"Oh you are so dramatic!"
"I am not!" I shoot back. "There is no fucking way I can play this!"
"Well then why don't you just rewrite it?!" He shoots back, obviously mad. Keith pushes his long, mullety hair out of his face and huffs.

"I will!" I say, setting the papers down.

"Go to hell!"

"Right back at you, asshole!" I take a few steps closer to Keith. I can feel his heavy breaths on my chest, and I can see the fall out from his eyeshadow that he forgot to brush away.
Keith shifts around, clearly uncomfortable.
I stand there for a few moments, breathing heavily as well. "Let's just...figure this out. Rewrite the weird parts." I sigh, trying not to yell at this guy who is making me feel so many weird feelings right now. "Look, it's good for an entry level song writer. But that's not what Voltron is. That's not our sound."
"Yeah. I don't know what I was thinking, writing that shit."
"It's not shit. It's good for your first time writing songs. But you have to practice. I've been writing since I was ten and my stuff still sounds like shit sometimes."
"Doubt it." He scoffs. "Your songs are incredible."
I blush. "No, they aren't. You're just used to your shit writing, anything remotely better sounds like magic." I joke, smiling.

Keith laughs. I don't understand why but when he laughs it's like my brain let out this big sigh of relief.
"Whatever. Thanks Lance."

For some reason, when he said my name I felt...strange. I'm warm and tingly, and I feel like I don't know how to breathe anymore.
"Oh. Yeah. No problem."

Keith and I are awkwardly silent for a bit, then he speaks up.
"There's this party at Shiro's tonight, kinda like a 'congrats on playing your first real shows at a big club and somehow managing to keep your eye' party.

As he says this, I notice his black eye again. I've gotten used to it somehow.
His eye is dark purples and blues and fades into an oddly pretty green. He's also got stitches on his temple, and he held my hand when he had to get them done. It was nice, even though both of our hands were clammy and-

"What?! There's a party tonight and I wasn't told about it?!?"
"Don't yell at me! Shiro is the one who decided he was throwing a party tonight! Can you come or not?!"

He didn't invite me? Why not? We're a band. We're all supposed to go to band things together. Does Shiro not like me? I thought he did. Maybe he forgot? Yeah, like that excuse is better. "Yeah, sorry bud. Just forgot you existed!"

"Lance?"
"Oh! Yeah, sounds fun." I say, shaking out of my daze.
"So you'll come?"
"Yes. I will." I force a smile and Keith smiles too, though he tries to hide it.

"I uhh...I kinda wish I didn't have this black eye. Everyone stares at me." He says, pointing to the eye.

I get a great, possibly insane idea and smile wildly.
"Lucky for you I've got an idea. I'll see ya at the party, man." I grab my jacket from the couch and open the door to leave, though not before winking at Keith.
Why did I do that???? What the hell was going through my head to think that was a good idea?!
I run out of the apartment complex, heading to mine a few blocks away.

This apartment is technically Hunk's, but we basically all live there now, aside from Keith who lives with Shiro. I've got my own place too, obviously, but it's mainly just a storage place for our extra gear and my real clothes and stuff I don't want everyone else to see, like my notebooks.

Even though I was literally just invited, I'm starting to feel pretty excited for this party, especially after I settled on doing that idea I had in the apartment with Keith.
